Abstract

In an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, a target marker for a firearm may comprise a module having a first portion, and a second portion electrically connected and coupled to the first portion. A light source may be disposed within and electrically connected to the second portion. An optical component may be coupled to the first portion at a first fixed distance from the light source. A circuit board may be electrically connected to the light source via at least one lead, wherein the lead may permit relative movement between the circuit board and the light source and may maintain a second fixed distance between the circuit board and the light source.

Claims (57)

1 - 29 . (canceled)

30 . An actuation system for an electrical device used with a hand-held projectile launcher, the actuation system comprising:

a first portion in front of a light source;

a second portion couplable to the first portion to substantially enclose the light source between the first portion and the second portion;

a first end of a circuit board electrically connected to the light source;

an electrically conductive resilient member positioned between a second end of the circuit board and a power source;

an activation switch comprising:

a slide lock of the hand-held projectile launcher;

a first electrically conductive portion electrically connected to the power source;

a second electrically conductive portion electrically connected to the power source.

31 . The actuation system of claim 30 , wherein the power source comprises a cover electrically connected to the second electrically conductive portion, and wherein the cover is press-fit into the second portion.

32 . The actuation system of claim 31 , wherein the electrically conductive resilient member is deformed longitudinally when contained with the power source between the second end of the circuit board and the cover and is configured to apply a resilient bias against the power source to cause the power source to remain in a position where an electrically conductible portion of the cover is configured to electrically connect to the power source.

33 . The actuation system of claim 32 , wherein the resilient bias is not sufficient to overcome a frictional force between the cover and the second portion.

34 . The actuation system of claim 31 , wherein the activation switch is moveable between:

a closed-circuit position, the closed-circuit position configured such that the first electrically conductive portion and the second electrically conductive portion are configured to allow continuity between the power source and the cover, and

an open-circuit position, the open-circuit position configured such that the first electrically conductive portion and the second electrically conductive portion are not configured to allow continuity between the power source and the cover.

35 . The actuation system of claim 30 , wherein the power source comprises at least one of a zinc-air battery, a lithium cell battery, an alkaline battery, a button cell battery, and a coin cell battery.

36 . The actuation system of claim 30 , wherein the first portion and second portion comprise a one-piece module.

37 . The actuation system of claim 30 , wherein the slide lock is configured to act as the activation switch and wherein:

the first electrically conductive portion electrically connected to the power source is a first portion of the slide lock, and

the second electrically conductive portion electrically connected to the power source is a second portion of the slide lock.

38 . An actuation system, the actuation system comprising:

a first portion;

a second portion couplable to the first portion to substantially enclose a light source between the first portion and the second portion;

a circuit board disposed within the second portion;

an electrically conductive resilient member positioned between the circuit board and a power source;

an activation switch comprising:

a slide lock;

a first electrically conductive portion electrically connected to the power source; and

a second electrically conductive portion electrically connected to the power source.

39 . The actuation system of claim 38 , wherein the activation switch is movable between a closed-circuit position and an open-circuit position.

40 . The actuation system of claim 38 , wherein the activation switch has at least one insulated portion and at least one conductive portion.

41 . The actuation system of claim 40 , wherein the at least one insulated portion includes an air gap.

42 . The actuation system of claim 39 , wherein the closed-circuit position is configured such that electrical continuity is allowed between the first electrically conductive portion and the second electrically conductive portion.

43 . The actuation system of claim 39 , wherein the open-circuit position is configured such that electrical continuity is not allowed between the first electrically conductive portion and the second electrically conductive portion.

44 . The actuation system of claim 39 , wherein the activation switch is moveable between a third position wherein the third position operates as a second closed-circuit position.

45 . An actuation system for use with a hand-held projectile launcher, the actuation system comprising:

a first portion in front of a light source;

a second portion joinable to the first portion to substantially enclose the light source between the first portion and the second portion;

a first end of a circuit board electrically connected to the light source;

an electrically conductive resilient member positioned between a second end of the circuit board and a power source;

a power source cover; and

an activation switch comprising:

a slide lock of the hand-held projectile launcher,

a first electrically conductive portion electrically connected to the power source, and

a second electrically conductive portion electrically connected to the power source cover,

wherein the activation switch configured to move between at least two positions:

a closed-circuit position, the closed-circuit position configured such that the first electrically conductive portion and the second electrically conductive portion are configured to allow continuity between the power source and the power source cover, and

an open-circuit position, the open-circuit position configured such that the first electrically conductive portion and the second electrically conductive portion are not configured to allow continuity between the power source and the power source cover.

46 . The actuation system of claim 45 , wherein the activation switch includes:

a first electrically conductive portion of the activation switch that is connected to the power source, and

a power source cover electrically connected to at least a second electrically conductive portion of the activation switch.

47 . The actuation system of claim 45 , wherein the activation switch is configured to couple with a slide lock.

48 . The actuation system of claim 45 , wherein a slide lock is configured to act as the activation switch and wherein:
