Abstract

A method including receiving an activation request including an identifier uniquely identifying the pre-printed lottery ticket for a pre-printed lottery ticket from a point-of-sale terminal, accessing a record associated with the pre-printed lottery ticket, determining if the activation request is valid, determining a set of attributes associated with the pre-printed lottery ticket based upon the identifier uniquely identifying the pre-printed lottery ticket, determining a central gaming system responsible for administering a lottery with which the pre-printed lottery ticket is associated, and enrolling the set of attributes associated with the pre-printed lottery ticket in the lottery with the central gaming system.

Claims (35)

1. A lottery ticket processing system comprising:

a lottery ticket;

a terminal; and

a remote server, wherein the lottery ticket is configured for interacting with the terminal, the interaction causing information comprised in the lottery ticket to be received, by the remote server configured for operations associated with game-playing transactions, or accessed, by the at least one remote server, from the terminal, wherein the terminal is located in an approved location associated with a game, wherein the terminal is associated with approved identification information or approved location information, wherein the game is associated with or comprises game information, wherein the at least one remote server is further configured to:

determine the information comprised in the lottery ticket is at least partially consistent with second information or identification information, the second information or the identification information being received, by the at least one remote server, or accessed, by the at least one remote server, from a computing device;

determine whether to provide the information comprised in the lottery ticket to a central gaming system of a plurality of central gaming systems and, if so determined, transmit the information comprised in the lottery ticket to the central gaming system, wherein the terminal and the central gaming system are located in the same state;

process the information comprised in the lottery ticket, or enable initiation or conduction of a game-playing transaction based on or associated with the information comprised in the lottery ticket, based on at least one of:

determining the information comprised in the lottery ticket is received or accessed from the terminal located in the approved location associated with the game, wherein the interaction between the terminal and the lottery ticket occurs in the approved location associated with the game, or

determining a period of validity associated with the lottery ticket has not expired, wherein the information comprised in the lottery ticket is received or accessed by the at least one remote server on a first communication interface between the terminal and the at least one remote server, wherein the second information is received or accessed by the at least one remote server on a second communication interface between the computing device and the at least one remote server, and wherein the lottery ticket is a manufactured, pre-printed lottery ticket or a virtual draw-type pre-selected lottery ticket.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the terminal is not a lottery terminal.

3. The system of claim 1 , further comprising an activation code and a redemption code.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the lottery ticket is customized for the interaction with the terminal.

5. The lottery ticket of claim 3 , wherein the activation code is visible on a first surface of the lottery ticket, and wherein the redemption code is covered by a removable surface on a second surface of the lottery ticket.

6. The lottery ticket of claim 1 , further comprising an area comprising one or more play selections.

7. The lottery ticket of claim 6 , wherein the one or more play selections are associated with at least two draws.

8. The lottery ticket of claim 6 , wherein the one or more play selections are associated with a single draw.

9. The lottery ticket of claim 1 , wherein the lottery ticket is or comprises a physical gaming card.

10. The lottery ticket of claim 1 , wherein the lottery ticket is the virtual draw-type pre-selected lottery ticket and is displayable on a mobile device.

11. The system of claim 2 , further comprising an activation code and a redemption code.

12. The system of claim 2 , wherein the lottery ticket is customized for the interaction with the terminal.

13. The lottery ticket of claim 11 , wherein the activation code is visible on a first surface of the lottery ticket, and wherein the redemption code is covered by a removable surface on a second surface of the lottery ticket.

14. The lottery ticket of claim 2 , further comprising an area comprising one or more play selections.

15. The lottery ticket of claim 14 , wherein the one or more play selections are associated with at least two draws.

16. The lottery ticket of claim 14 , wherein the one or more play selections are associated with a single draw.

17. The lottery ticket of claim 2 , wherein the lottery ticket is or comprises a physical gaming card.

18. The lottery ticket of claim 2 , wherein the lottery ticket is the virtual draw-type pre-selected lottery ticket and is displayable on a mobile device.

19. A system for processing a lottery ticket sale, the system comprising:

a lottery ticket, wherein the lottery ticket is configured to interact with a terminal;

the terminal, configured to cause information comprised in the lottery ticket to be received or accessed by at least one remote server, wherein the terminal is located in an approved location associated with a game, wherein the terminal is associated with approved identification information or approved location information, and wherein the game is associated with or comprises game information;

the at least one remote server configured for operations associated with game-playing transactions, wherein the operations comprise determining whether to provide the information comprised in the lottery ticket to a central gaming system of a plurality of central gaming systems and, if so determined, routing the information comprised in the lottery ticket to the central gaming system, wherein the terminal and the central gaming system are located in the same state, the at least one remote server further configured to:

determine the information comprised in the lottery ticket is at least partially consistent with second information or identification information, the second information or the identification information being received, by the at least one remote server, or accessed, by the at least one remote server, from a computing device;

process the information comprised in the lottery ticket, or enable initiation or conduction of a game-playing transaction based on or associated with the information comprised in the lottery ticket, based on at least one of:

determining the information comprised in the lottery ticket is received or accessed from the terminal located in the approved location associated with the game, wherein interaction between the terminal and the lottery ticket occurs in the approved location associated with the game, or

determining a period of validity associated with lottery ticket has not expired, wherein the information comprised in the lottery ticket is received or accessed by the at least one remote server on a first communication interface between the terminal and the at least one remote server, wherein the second information is received or accessed by the at least one remote server on a second communication interface between the computing device and the at least one remote server, and wherein the lottery ticket is a manufactured, pre-printed lottery ticket or a virtual draw-type pre-selected lottery ticket.

20. The system of claim 18 , which is not a lottery terminal.
