Abstract

A system and method are disclosed for generating a chat space for two or more communication devices using a computer coupled with a database and comprising a processor and memory. The computer generates a chat space and transmits requests to join the chat space to the two or more communication devices. The computer stores in memory identification information for each of the two or more communication devices and one or more public chat messages transmitted between the two or more communication devices. The computer monitors for one or more requests, transmitted from one of the two or more communication devices to the computer, to generate a private thread. In response to one or more requests, the computer generates a private thread, and stores in the computer memory one or more private thread messages transmitted between two or more communication devices in the private thread.

Claims (42)

1. A system, comprising:

one or more communication devices; and

one or more cloud systems each comprising an administrator coupled with a database, the one or more cloud systems configured to:

generate a general chat interface in response to a request from at least one of the one or more communication devices;

generate, in response to another request from the one or more communication devices, one or more new private threads within the general chat interface, wherein each new private thread is configured using thread parameters selected by a user and by selection of a thread template by the user;

store in the cloud system identification information for each of the one or more communication devices;

continually monitor for one or more requests from each of the one or more communication devices to generate one or more threads; and

store a transcript of the general chat interface and transmitted chat messages to permit one or more communication devices to access and display the transcript and transmitted chat messages at a later time.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the general chat interface further comprises an ongoing exchange of text-based or image-based chat messages.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein data of the one or more new private threads comprises one or more of: one or more chat messages, one or more images, one or more saved files, one or more documents, and other information.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein each new private thread comprises a private threaded chat topic, and wherein selected communication devices may exchange private thread data privately without the private thread data being shared in the general chat interface amongst all participating communication devices.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein one of the one or more communication devices comprises a computer that also functions as a cloud system to generate the general chat interface and the one or more new private threads.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein identification information of the one or more communication devices comprises one or more of:

information associated with an operating system of each of the one or more communication devices, internet browser information regarding each of the one or more communication devices and system specifications of each of the one or more communication devices.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more cloud systems are configured to:

store one or more of communication systems data, chat data, thread data and permissions data redundantly in the database and the one or more communication devices.

8. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

generating, using one or more cloud systems each comprising an administrator coupled with a database, a general chat interface in response to a request from at least one of one or more communication devices;

generating, by the one or more cloud systems, in response to another request from the one or more communication devices, one or more new private threads within the general chat interface, wherein each new private thread is configured using thread parameters selected by a user and by selection of a thread template by the user;

storing, by the one or more cloud systems, in the cloud system identification information for each of the one or more communication devices;

continually monitoring, by the one or more cloud systems, for one or more requests from each of the one or more communication devices to generate one or more threads; and

storing, by the one or more cloud systems, a transcript of the general chat interface and transmitted chat messages to permit one or more communication devices to access and display the transcript and transmitted chat messages at a later time.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the general chat interface further comprises an ongoing exchange of text-based or image-based chat messages.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein data of the one or more new private threads comprises one or more of: one or more chat messages, one or more images, one or more saved files, one or more documents, and other information.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein each new private thread comprises a private threaded chat topic, and wherein selected communication devices may exchange private thread data privately without the private thread data being shared in the general chat interface amongst all participating communication devices.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein one of the one or more communication devices comprises a computer that also functions as a cloud system to generate the general chat interface and the one or more new private threads.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein identification information of the one or more communication devices comprises one or more of:

information associated with an operating system of each of the one or more communication devices, internet browser information regarding each of the one or more communication devices and system specifications of each of the one or more communication devices.

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the one or more cloud systems are configured to:

store one or more of communication systems data, chat data, thread data and permissions data redundantly in the database and the one or more communication devices.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium embodied with software, the software when executed configured to:

generate, using one or more cloud systems each comprising an administrator coupled with a database, a general chat interface in response to a request from at least one of the one or more communication devices;

generate, in response to another request from the one or more communication devices, one or more new private threads within the general chat interface, wherein each new private thread is configured using thread parameters selected by a user and by selection of a thread template by the user;

store in the cloud system identification information for each of the one or more communication devices;

continually monitor for one or more requests from each of the one or more communication devices to generate one or more threads; and

store a transcript of the general chat interface and transmitted chat messages to permit one or more communication devices to access and display the transcript and transmitted chat messages at a later time.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the general chat interface further comprises an ongoing exchange of text-based or image-based chat messages.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein data of the one or more new private threads comprises one or more of: one or more chat messages, one or more images, one or more saved files, one or more documents, and other information.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein each new private thread comprises a private threaded chat topic, and wherein selected communication devices may exchange private thread data privately without the private thread data being shared in the general chat interface amongst all participating communication devices.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein one of the one or more communication devices comprises a computer that also functions as a cloud system to generate the general chat interface and the one or more new private threads.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein identification information of the one or more communication devices comprises one or more of:

information associated with an operating system of each of the one or more communication devices, internet browser information regarding each of the one or more communication devices and system specifications of each of the one or more communication devices.
