Abstract

A percussive massage device includes a housing and a shaft configured to reciprocate linearly along a reciprocation axis. The shaft includes a distal end configured to electrically connect to a therapeutic attachment and a proximal end opposite the distal end. The percussive massage device includes a bracket that is immovable relative to the housing. The percussive massage device includes an electronics assembly including a controller located on an opposite side of the bracket from the shaft. The percussive massage device includes a coil spring extending from the bracket to the proximal end of the shaft and a cable that provides an electrical connection between the shaft and the controller. The cable includes a coil portion that follows the shape of the coil spring.

Claims (38)

1 . A percussive massage device comprising:

a shaft configured to reciprocate linearly;

a power source;

a cable that provides an electrical connection between the shaft and the power source, wherein the cable comprises conductive wires, a coil portion, and a jacket, the jacket including a channel; and

a coil spring that supports the coil portion and is distinct from the conductive wires, the coil spring being received in the channel.

2 . The percussive massage device of claim 1 , wherein the channel is enclosed within the jacket.

3 . The percussive massage device of claim 1 , wherein the channel is located at an exterior of the jacket.

4 . The percussive massage device of claim 1 , comprising a housing, and wherein the coil portion is defined between a first plane that is immovable relative to the housing and a second plane that is immovable relative to the shaft.

5 . The percussive massage device of claim 4 , wherein the shaft is configured to reciprocate linearly along a reciprocation axis and the first plane and second plane are normal to the reciprocation axis.

6 . The percussive massage device of claim 4 , wherein:

the coil portion follows the coil spring such that each part of the cable within the coil portion corresponds to a part of the coil spring;

the device comprises a bracket that retains a portion of the coil spring that corresponds to a first portion of the cable; and

the shaft comprises a base that retains a portion of the coil spring that corresponds to a second portion of the cable.

7 . The percussive massage device of claim 4 , wherein the coil spring is disposed between the first plane and the second plane.

8 . The percussive massage device of claim 1 , wherein the coil spring is disposed between a portion of the housing and a portion of the shaft such that the portion of the housing and the portion of the shaft bear axial forces from the coil spring.

9 . The percussive massage device of claim 8 , wherein the shaft is configured to move relative to the portion of the housing as the shaft reciprocates linearly.

10 . The percussive massage device of claim 1 , wherein the coil portion is glued to the coil spring.

11 . The percussive massage device of claim 1 , wherein the coil spring is connected to the housing and the shaft.

12 . A percussive massage device comprising:

a housing that contains a motor;

a shaft configured to reciprocate in response to activation of the motor, the shaft including a proximal end;

a bracket that configured to remain stationary relative to the housing when the shaft reciprocates;

a coil spring connected to the bracket and the proximal end of the shaft; and

a cable that follows a coil shape of the coil spring between the bracket and the proximal end of the shaft, wherein the cable comprises conductive wires that are distinct from the coil spring.

13 . The percussive massage device of claim 12 , wherein the bracket comprises two tabs between which a portion of the coil spring is received.

14 . The percussive massage device of claim 13 , wherein the two tabs comprise a proximal tab and a distal tab.

15 . The percussive massage device of claim 13 , wherein a portion of the coil spring is rotatable relative to the two tabs.

16 . The percussive massage device of claim 12 , wherein the cable comprises a jacket, the jacket comprises a channel, and the coil spring is received in the channel.

17 . The percussive massage device of claim 12 , comprising a push rod extending from the motor to the proximal end of the shaft, wherein the bracket is between the motor and the proximal end of the shaft.

18 . The percussive massage device of claim 12 , comprising an electronics assembly that comprises a controller, wherein the electronics assembly is configured to communicate electronically through the cable with attachments connected to the shaft.

19 . An assembly comprising:

the percussive massage device of claim 18 , wherein the percussive massage device further comprises a display; and

an attachment connected to the shaft, wherein the attachment comprises a sensor;

wherein the percussive massage device is configured to display measurements from the sensor on the display.

20 . An assembly comprising:

the percussive massage device of claim 18 , wherein the percussive massage device further comprises a control panel; and

an attachment connected to the shaft, wherein the attachment comprises an electronic element;

wherein the percussive massage device is configured to activate the electronic element in response to inputs to the control panel.
