SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING TIMELY AND RELEVANT SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATES FOR A PERSON OF INTEREST IN A MEDIA ASSET WHO IS UNKNOWN SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE MEDIA ASSET
Systems and methods are described herein for detecting that a person of interest is displayed in a live video for a threshold amount of time, attempting to identify an identity of the person determining that the attempting has failed, identifying broadcast times corresponding to a period of time in which the person was displayed in the live video, identifying trending topics in a social media space that relate to the live video, ascertaining an identity of the person of interest based on the trending topics, comparing the identity of the person of interest to a database of social media profiles, identifying a social media component that corresponds to the person, determining whether the person has modified the social media component within a predefined period of time, and providing information relating to a modification of the social media component simultaneously with the video.

51 . A method comprising:
identifying a person being displayed in a live video;
identifying a social media space of a social network system belonging to the person, wherein the social network system makes the social media space available for access to a plurality of user devices;
accessing the social network system to identify an update to the social media space belonging to the person;
determining whether the update of the social media space belonging to the person is relevant to the live video; and
in response to determining that the update of the social media space is relevant to the live video, generating for display an overlay over the live video, wherein the overlay comprises the update to the social media space belonging to the person.
52 . The method of claim 51 , further comprising:
determining that the update to the social media space is relevant to the live video by:
comparing data of the update to the social media space to data associated with the live video; and
determining that the data of the update to the social media space matches data associated with the live video.
53 . The method of claim 52 , wherein:
the data of the update to the social media space is textual data;
the data associated with the live video is metadata of the live video; and
the determining that the data of the update to the social media space matches data associated with the live video comprises:
determining a match between at least one word of the textual data and the metadata of the live video.
54 . The method of claim 53 , wherein the metadata comprises a title of the live video.
55 . The method of claim 51 , further comprising:
in response to determining that the update to the social media space is not relevant to the live video, refrain from generating for display the overlay over the live video.
56 . The method of claim 55 , further comprising:
determining that the update to the social media space is not relevant to the live video by:
comparing data of the update to the social media space to data associated with the live video; and
determining that the data of the update to the social media space does not match data associated with the live video.
57 . The method of claim 56 , wherein:
the data of the update to the social media space is textual data;
the data associated with the live video is metadata of the live video; and
the determining that the data of the update to the social media space does not match data associated with the live video comprises:
determining there is no match between at least one word of the textual data and the metadata of the live video.
58 . The method of claim 57 , wherein the metadata comprises a title of the live video.
59 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the update to the social media space comprises at least one of textual data, video data, photographic data, or audio data.
60 . The method of claim 51 , further comprising:
monitoring for further update to the social media space;
identifying a further update to the social media space;
determining whether the further update of the social media space belonging to the person is relevant to the live video;
in response to determining that the further update to the social media space is relevant to the live video, generating for display an updated overlay over the live video, wherein the updated overlay comprises the further update to the social media space belonging to the person; and
in response to determining that the further update to the social media space is not relevant to the live video, refrain from generating for display the updated overlay over the live video.
61 . A system comprising:
input/output circuitry configured to generate for display a live video; and
control circuitry configured to:
identify a person being displayed in the live video;
identify a social media space of a social network system belonging to the person, wherein the social network system makes the social media space available for access to a plurality of user devices;
access the social network system to identify an update to the social media space belonging to the person; and
determine whether the update of the social media space belonging to the person is relevant to the live video; and
wherein the input/output circuitry is further configured to:
in response to determining that the update to the social media space is relevant to the live video, generate for display an overlay over the live video, wherein the overlay comprises the update to the social media space belonging to the person.
62 . The system of claim 61 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:
determine that the update to the social media space is relevant to the live video by:
comparing data of the update to the social media space to data associated with the live video; and
determining that the data of the update to the social media space matches data associated with the live video.
63 . The system of claim 62 , wherein:
the data of the update to the social media space is textual data;
the data associated with the live video is metadata of the live video; and
the determining that the data of the update to the social media space matches data associated with the live video comprises:
determining a match between at least one word of the textual data and the metadata of the live video.
64 . The system of claim 63 , wherein the metadata comprises a title of the live video.
65 . The system of claim 61 , wherein the input/output circuitry is further configured to:
in response to determining that the update to the social media space is not relevant to the live video, refrain from generating for display the overlay over the live video.
66 . The system of claim 65 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:
determining that the update to the social media space is not relevant to the live video by:
comparing data of the update to the social media space to data associated with the live video; and
determining that the data of the update to the social media space does not match data associated with the live video.
67 . The system of claim 66 , wherein:
the data of the update to the social media space is textual data;
the data associated with the live video is metadata of the live video; and
the determining that the data of the update to the social media space does not match data associated with the live video comprises:
determining there is no match between at least one word of the textual data and the metadata of the live video.
68 . The system of claim 67 , wherein the metadata comprises a title of the live video.
69 . The system of claim 61 , wherein the update to the social media space comprises at least one of textual data, video data, photographic data, or audio data.
70 . The system of claim 61 , wherein:
the control circuitry is further configured to:
monitor for further update to the social media space;
identify a further update to the social media space; and
determine whether the further update of the social media space belonging to the person is relevant to the live video; and
the input/output circuitry is further configured to:
in response to determining that the further update to the social media space is relevant to the live video, generate for display an updated overlay over the live video, wherein the updated overlay comprises the update to the social media space belonging to the person; and
in response to determining that the further update to the social media space is not relevant to the live video, refrain from generating for display the updated overlay over the live video.
