METHOD OF TREATING AMYOTROPHIC LATERAL SCLEROSIS WITH PRIDOPIDINE
Provided herein is a method for treating a human subject afflicted with ALS by administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of pridopidine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
1 . A method for decreasing the risk of death or prolonging the survival of a subject with ALS wherein the method comprises administering to the subject a composition comprising a therapeutically acceptable amount of pridopidine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the method comprises administering the composition for at least 4 months, 6 months, 8 months or 10 months.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the decrease in the risk of death is between 20%-90% compared to a subject not treated with pridopidine.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the decrease in the risk of death is between 50%-70% compared to a subject not treated with pridopidine.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the method prolongs the survival of a subject with ALS by at least 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 10 months, 12 months, 24 months compared to a subject not treated with pridopidine.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the amount of pridopidine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered daily, twice a week, three times a week or more often than once daily.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the amount of pridopidine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered orally.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the amount of pridopidine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof administered is 10 mg per day to 90 mg per day.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pridopidine salt is pridopidine hydrochloride.
