Abstract

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for providing dynamic, prioritized spectrum utilization management. The system includes at least one monitoring sensor, at least one data analysis engine, at least one application, a semantic engine, a programmable rules and policy editor, a tip and cue server, and/or a control panel. The tip and cue server is operable utilize the environmental awareness from the data processed by the at least one data analysis engine in combination with additional information to create actionable data.

Claims (47)

1. A system for spectrum management in an electromagnetic environment comprising:

at least one monitoring sensor operable to monitor the electromagnetic environment, thereby creating measured data from the electromagnetic environment;

at least one data analysis engine for analyzing the measured data to provide information associated with at least one signal;

a customer optimization module;

an operational engine;

wherein the at least one monitoring sensor is in communication with the at least one data analysis engine;

wherein the operational engine is in communication with the at least one data analysis engine;

wherein the operational engine is in communication with the customer optimization module;

wherein the operational engine is operable to translate the information associated with the at least one signal into constraints and send the constraints to the customer optimization module;

wherein the customer optimization module is operable to discern a statistical impact on customer goals and/or customer operations based on the constraints and the measured data from the electromagnetic environment;

wherein the customer optimization module is operable to send actionable data related to the electromagnetic environment to the operational engine; and

wherein the operational engine includes a policy manager, wherein the policy manager is operable to create a policy or a rule for a conditional allowance of a resource for the at least one signal in the electromagnetic environment.

The system of claim 1 , further comprising a reasoner operable to determine optimization conditional constraints to be used by an optimizer for optimization of spectrum in the electromagnetic environment based on the policy or the rule for the conditional allowance of the resource for the at least one signal in the electromagnetic environment.

3. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a resource brokerage application operable to control usage of the resource for the at least one signal based on the policy or the rule for the conditional allowance of the resource for the at least one signal in the electromagnetic environment.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data analysis engine is operable to identify interference, and wherein the customer optimization module is operable to discern a statistical impact of the interference on customer goals and/or customer operations.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one monitoring sensor includes a customer application programming interface (API), a radio server, and/or a coverage management component.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the resource includes a portion of at least one frequency band in a spectrum in the electromagnetic environment.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the policy or the rule for the conditional allowance of the resource for the at least one signal in the electromagnetic environment is used for dynamic allocation of at least one frequency band in a spectrum in the electromagnetic environment.

8. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a survey occupancy application operable to determine occupancy in frequency bands.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the survey occupancy application is operable to schedule occupancy in the frequency bands.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one signal includes a priority, and wherein the priority is used in dynamic allocation of spectrum in the electromagnetic environment for the at least one signal.

11. A system for spectrum management in an electromagnetic environment comprising:

at least one monitoring sensor operable to monitor the electromagnetic environment, thereby creating measured data from the electromagnetic environment;

at least one data analysis engine for analyzing the measured data to provide information associated with at least one signal;

a customer optimization module;

an operational engine;

wherein the at least one monitoring sensor is in communication with the at least one data analysis engine;

wherein the operational engine is in communication with the at least one data analysis engine;

wherein the operational engine is in communication with the customer optimization module;

wherein the operational engine is operable to translate the information associated with the at least one signal into constraints and send the constraints to the customer optimization module;

wherein the data analysis engine is operable to identify interference, and wherein the customer optimization module is operable to discern a statistical impact of the interference on customer goals and/or customer operations; and

wherein the customer optimization module is operable to send actionable data related to the electromagnetic environment to the operational engine.

The system of claim 11 , further comprising a reasoner operable to determine optimization conditional constraints to be used by an optimizer for optimization of spectrum in the electromagnetic environment based on a policy or a rule for conditional allowance of a resource for the at least one signal in the electromagnetic environment.

13. The system of claim 12 , further comprising a resource brokerage application operable to control usage of the resource for the at least one signal based on the policy or the rule for the conditional allowance of the resource for the at least one signal in the electromagnetic environment.

14. The system of claim 12 , wherein the resource includes a portion of at least one frequency band in a spectrum in the electromagnetic environment.

15. The system of claim 11 , wherein the at least one monitoring sensor includes a customer application programming interface (API), a radio server, and/or a coverage management component.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the actionable data is used for dynamic allocation of at least one frequency band in a spectrum in the electromagnetic environment.

17. The system of claim 11 , further comprising a survey occupancy application operable to determine occupancy and schedule occupancy in frequency bands.

18. A method for spectrum management in an electromagnetic environment comprising:

at least one monitoring sensor monitoring the electromagnetic environment, thereby creating measured data from the electromagnetic environment;

at least one data analysis engine analyzing the measured data to provide information associated with at least one signal;

an operational engine translating the information associated with the at least one signal into constraints and send the constraints to the customer optimization module;

the data analysis engine identifying interference;

the customer optimization module discerning a statistical impact of the interference on customer goals and/or customer operations; and

the customer optimization module sending actionable data related to the electromagnetic environment to the operational engine.

19. The method of claim 18 , further comprising a survey occupancy application determining occupancy and scheduling occupancy in frequency bands.

20. The method of claim 18 , further comprising a reasoner determining optimization conditional constraints to be used by an optimizer for optimization of spectrum in the electromagnetic environment based on a policy or a rule for conditional allowance of a resource for the at least one signal in the electromagnetic environment.
