Abstract

Blood glucose level measurement includes a light source configured to irradiate light to a subject; a monochrome part configured to separate wavelength components of the light that is reflected and scattered from the subject; a light receiver configured to receive the light transmitted via the monochrome part and to generate electrical signals based on the received light; and a processor configured to extract information on the blood glucose level of the subject based on a frequency shift of the light due to the Raman effect.

Claims (12)

1 . A method for measuring blood glucose level, comprising:

irradiating light to a subject;

separating wavelength components of the light that is reflected and scattered from the subject;

generating electrical signals based on light, in which wavelength components are separated; and

analyzing the electrical signals to extract information on the blood glucose level of the subject based on a frequency shift of the light due to the Raman effect.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a glucose level in an interstitial fluid is measured based on ratios of areas of (a) a peak at about 1450 cm −1 , (b) a peak at about 1660 cm −1 , and (c) a peak at about 1125 cm −1 .

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said step of separating wavelength components of the light is performed using a diffracting grating configured to disperse the light reflected and scattered by the subject for a plurality of wavelength components.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said step of separating wavelength components of the light is performed using a prism that disperses the light reflected and scattered by the subject for a plurality of wavelength components.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said step of separating wavelength components of the light is performed using a filter array that filters the light reflected and scattered by the subject, and

wherein the filter array includes a plurality of optical filters configured to transmit lights of different wavelength components.

6 . The method of claim 1 wherein said step of separating wavelength components of the light is performed using a linear variable filter that filters the light reflected and scattered by the subject, and

wherein the linear variable filter is configured such that different areas thereof pass different wavelength components of light.
