Abstract

Systems and methods described herein are directed to the integration and containerization of gateway components on edge devices, which may include building device gateways. A gateway executes a building device interface container that communicates, via an interface implemented by the building device interface container, with one or more building devices of the building to control or collect data from the one or more building devices. The gateway executes a processing container that processes the data from the one or more building devices. The gateway implements a virtual communication bus that facilitates communication between the building device interface container and the processing container.

Claims (36)

1 . A building device gateway of a building, comprising:

one or more processors coupled to a non-transitory memory, the one or more processors configured to:

execute a building device interface container that communicates, via an interface implemented by the building device interface container, with one or more building devices of the building to control or collect data from the one or more building devices;

execute a processing container that processes the data from the one or more building devices; and

implement a virtual communication bus that facilitates communication between the building device interface container and the processing container.

2 . The building device gateway of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

receive an update to one or more of the building device interface container or the processing container; and

modify one or more of the building device interface container or the processing container according to the update.

3 . The building device gateway of claim 1 , wherein the virtual communication bus comprises a virtual Internet protocol (IP) network.

4 . The building device gateway of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to execute a cloud communication container that communicates data transmitted via the virtual communication bus to or from a cloud computing system.

5 . The building device gateway of claim 4 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to execute a cloud proxy container that formats data transmitted via the virtual communication bus according to a standard format of the cloud computing system.

6 . The building device gateway of claim 5 , wherein the cloud proxy container is further configured to periodically transmit the formatted data to the cloud computing system.

7 . The building device gateway of claim 1 , wherein the virtual communication bus is configured to receive and transmit one or more messages identifying one or more topics.

8 . The building device gateway of claim 7 , wherein the processing container comprises a configuration that subscribes the processing container to a subset of the one or more topics.

9 . The building device gateway of claim 1 , wherein the processing container comprises one or more of a graphical user interface container, an analytical engine container, an edge management container, or a logs management container.

10 . A method, comprising:

providing, by a building device gateway comprising one or more processors and a non-transitory memory, for execution, a building device interface container that communicates, via an interface implemented by the building device interface container, with one or more building devices of the building to control or collect data from the one or more building devices;

executing, by the building device gateway, for execution, a processing container that processes the data from the one or more building devices; and

implementing, by the building device gateway, a virtual communication bus that facilitates communication between the building device interface container and the processing container.

11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

receiving, by the building device gateway, an update to one or more of the building device interface container or the processing container; and

modifying, by the building device gateway, one or more of the building device interface container or the processing container according to the update.

12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the virtual communication bus comprises a virtual Internet protocol (IP) network.

13 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising providing, by the building device gateway, for execution, a cloud communication container that communicates data transmitted via the virtual communication bus to or from a cloud computing system.

14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising providing, by the building device gateway, for execution, a cloud proxy container that formats data transmitted via the virtual communication bus according to a standard format of the cloud computing system.

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the cloud proxy container, when executed, is further configured to periodically transmit the formatted data to the cloud computing system.

16 . The method of claim 10 , wherein implementing the virtual communication bus comprises receiving and transmitting one or more messages identifying one or more topics.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the processing container comprises a configuration that subscribes the processing container to a subset of the one or more topics.

18 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the processing container comprises one or more of a graphical user interface container, an analytical engine container, an edge management container, or a logs management container.

19 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium with processor-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed by one or more processors of a building device gateway, cause the building device gateway to perform operations comprising:

executing a building device interface container that communicates, via an interface implemented by the building device interface container, with one or more building devices of the building to control or collect data from the one or more building devices;

executing a processing container that processes the data from the one or more building devices; and

implementing a virtual communication bus that facilitates communication between the building device interface container and the processing container.

20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving an update to one or more of the building device interface container or the processing container; and

modifying one or more of the building device interface container or the processing container according to the update.
