Abstract

A device comprising a fin structure, a vent disposed in the fin structure, a cooling coil disposed in the vent, a light disposed in the fin structure and wherein the fin structure is configured to create a Coanda effect for air exiting the vent.

Claims (37)

1. A controller for a chilled beam, wherein the controller is configured to:

receive humidity measurement data of a room from a humidity sensor;

determine that a heat exchanger of the chilled beam is susceptible to condensation based on the humidity measurement data; and

control the chilled beam to provide heat, from a heat source, adjacent to the heat exchanger in response to the determination that the heat exchanger is susceptible to condensation.

2. The controller of claim 1 , wherein, to determine that the heat exchanger is susceptible to condensation based on the humidity measurement data, the controller is configured to determine that a humidity level of the room is greater than a predetermined level at which condensation will form.

3. The controller of claim 2 , wherein the controller is configured to determine the predetermined level based on a look up table of dew point values.

4. The controller of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to:

receive additional humidity measurement data comprising air source humidity measurement data from an additional humidity sensor; and

determine that the heat exchanger of the chilled beam is susceptible to condensation based on the additional humidity measurement data.

5. The controller of claim 1 , wherein the humidity measurement data comprises a room air humidity measurement of the room.

6. The controller of claim 1 , wherein the heat source comprises one or more pipes disposed adjacent to the heat exchanger, and wherein the controller is configured to actuate a valve to enable heated water to flow through the one or more pipes to provide heat adjacent to the heat exchanger.

7. The controller of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to determine that the heat exchanger is susceptible to condensation based on the humidity measurement data and one or more design factors of the chilled beam, one or more air flow rates, or both.

8. The controller of claim 1 , wherein controller is configured to control the chilled beam to provide radiant heating to the room via the heat source.

9. A system, comprising

one or more processors; and

a memory storing instructions that, when executed by at least one processor of the one or more processors, cause the at least one processor to:

receive temperature measurement data of a room from a temperature sensor;

determine that a heat exchanger of a chilled beam is susceptible to condensation based on the temperature measurement data; and

control the chilled beam to provide heat, from a heat source, adjacent to the heat exchanger in response to the determination that the heat exchanger is susceptible to condensation.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor of the one or more processors, cause the at least one processor to:

receive additional temperature measurement data comprising chilled water source temperature data from an additional temperature sensor; and

determine that the heat exchanger of the chilled beam is susceptible to condensation based on the additional temperature measurement data.

11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor of the one or more processors, cause the at least one processor to:

receive additional temperature measurement data comprising external air temperature data from an additional temperature sensor; and

determine that the heat exchanger of the chilled beam is susceptible to condensation based on the additional temperature measurement data.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor of the one or more processors, cause the at least one processor to determine that the heat exchanger is susceptible to condensation based on a look-up table of dew point values.

13. The system of claim 9 , comprising a touch screen interface configured to receive a user input to enable control of a temperature of the room.

14. The system of claim 9 , comprising the heat source, wherein the heat source comprises one or more pipes disposed adjacent to the heat exchanger.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor of the one or more processors, cause the at least one processor to actuate a valve to cause heated water to flow through the one or more pipes to provide heat adjacent to the heat exchanger.

16. The system of claim 14 , wherein the one or more pipes are configured to provide radiant heating to the room.

17. A method of controlling a chilled beam, comprising:

receiving, at a controller of the chilled beam, humidity measurement data of a room from a humidity sensor;

determining that a heat exchanger of the chilled beam is susceptible to condensation based on the humidity measurement data; and

providing heat, from a heat source, adjacent to the heat exchanger in response to determining that the heat exchanger is susceptible to condensation.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein determining that the heat exchanger is susceptible to condensation based on the humidity measurement data comprises determining that a humidity measurement is greater than a predetermined level at which condensation will form.

19. The method of claim 18 , comprising determining the predetermined level based on a look up table of dew point values.

20. The method of claim 17 , wherein receiving the humidity measurement data of the room comprises receiving a room humidity measurement, an air source humidity measurement, or both.
