Abstract

A system and method for actively directing users within an environment that can include accessing item data of a user at an environment; at a sensor-based monitoring system, monitoring location of the user within the environment; and modifying state of a subset of feedback devices based on the item data and the location of the user, wherein the subset of feedback devices are part of a set of feedback devices distributed within the environment.

Claims (39)

1 . A method comprising:

accessing item data of a user at an environment;

at a sensor-based monitoring system, monitoring location of the user within the environment;

modifying state of a subset of feedback devices based on the item data and the location of the user, wherein the subset of feedback devices is part of a set of feedback devices distributed within the environment.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein modifying state of the subset of feedback devices based on the item data and the location of the user comprises:

detecting a user-item proximity condition when the location of the user is within a proximity distance threshold from an item indicated in the item data, and

activating a feedback device associated with the item in response to detecting the user-item proximity condition.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein modifying state of the subset of feedback devices based on the item data and the location of the user further comprises:

confirming completion of a user-item interaction for the item, and

deactivating the feedback device associated with the item.

The method of claim 1 , wherein modifying state of the subset of feedback devices comprises: updating state of at least a first feedback device to indicate storage location of a targeted item from the item data, and updating state of at least a second feedback device to indicate a navigational cue towards the targeted item from the item data.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein accessing item data of a user at an environment comprises access a shopping list with a set of items.

The method of claim 5 , further comprising: mapping agent path directions for the set of items within the environment based on a product location map, the agent path directions indicating a sequence of items; and wherein modifying state of the subset of feedback devices based on the item data and the location of the user further comprises:

sequentially updating the subset of feedback devices based on a current item in the sequence of items and the location of the user, and

upon determining completion of a user-item interaction for the current item, updating the current item to a next item in the sequence of items.

7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising, updating the agent path directions in real-time based on the location of the user.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein updating the agent path directions in real-time based on the location of the user is further based on a change in inventory status of the item.

9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein updating the agent path directions in real-time based on the location of the user is further based on detected user congestion.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of feedback devices is a plurality of feedback devices that is distributed across distinct item storage locations in the environment.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of feedback devices comprises a plurality of feedback devices with graphical displays; wherein modifying state of a subset of feedback devices comprises altering display state of a graphical display of a feedback device in the subset of feedback devices.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of feedback devices comprises a plurality of electronic shelf labels positioned on storage equipment adjacent to products in the environment; and wherein modifying state of the subset of feedback devices comprises altering visual state of a visual output of an electronic shelf label.

13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of feedback devices comprises a plurality of feedback devices with light emitting diode (LED) visual beacons; and wherein modifying state of the subset of feedback devices comprises altering illumination state of a visual beacon of a feedback device.

14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the sensor-based monitoring system is a computer vision monitoring system.

15 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more computer processors of a computing platform, cause the computing platform to perform operations comprising:

accessing item data of a user at an environment;

at a sensor-based monitoring system, monitoring location of the user within the environment;

modifying state of a subset of feedback devices based on the item data and the location of the user, wherein the subset of feedback devices is part of a set of feedback devices distributed within the environment.

16 . A system comprising:

a set of feedback devices distributed at distinct locations across an environment;

an interface to item data of users;

a sensor-based monitoring system comprising configuration to perform operations comprising:

monitoring location of the user within the environment, and

modifying state of a subset of feedback devices based on the item data and the location of the user, wherein the subset of feedback devices is part of a set of feedback devices distributed within the environment.

17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the configuration is further configured to perform operations comprising:

detecting a user-item proximity condition when the location of the user is within a proximity distance threshold from an item indicated in the item data, and

activating a feedback device associated with the item in response to detecting the user-item proximity condition.

18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the set of feedback device comprises a set of electronic shelf labels that comprise at least a visual output, where the state of the visual output is modified.

19 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the sensor-based monitoring system is a computer vision monitoring system.

20 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the interface to item data of users is a data interface to a digital shopping delivery service.
