Abstract

An apparatus of a clamp with a first body extending between an attachment end and a hinged end, the first body having at least one first rounded segment. A second body hingedly connected to the first body at the hinged end for movement of the first body and the second body between an opened position and a closed position; the second body having at least one second rounded segment.

Claims (29)

1. A clamp assembly comprising:

a clamp comprising:

a first body extending between an attachment end and a hinged end, the first body comprising at least one first rounded segment terminating in a first protrusion; and

a second body hingedly connected to the first body at the hinged end for movement of the first body and the second body between an opened position and a closed position; the second body comprising at least one second rounded segment terminating in a second protrusion;

wherein the at least one first rounded segment and the at least one second rounded segment together define at least one channel; and

wherein the at least one channel comprises a hyperboloid geometry defined at least in part by the first and second protrusions.

2. The clamp assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least one first rounded segment includes a first upper rounded segment, a first middle rounded segment, and a first lower rounded segment.

3. The clamp assembly of claim 2 , wherein the at least one second rounded segment includes a second upper rounded segment, a second middle rounded segment, and a second lower rounded segment.

4. The clamp assembly of claim 3 , wherein the first and second protrusions include a first and second upper middle protrusion and a first and second lower middle protrusion.

5. The clamp assembly of claim 4 , wherein together the first and second upper middle protrusions and the first and second lower middle protrusions define at least a portion of an upper channel, a middle channel, and a lower channel.

6. The clamp assembly of claim 5 , wherein at least one of the at least one first rounded segment and the at least one second rounded segment is formed with a semi-circular interior surface.

7. The clamp assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a set of protrusions extending radially into the channel from at least one of the first body or the second body.

8. The clamp assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first body further comprises a set of apertures defining at least a portion of the attachment end.

9. The clamp assembly of claim 8 , wherein the second body further comprises a second aperture defining a remaining portion of the attachment end, and wherein the set of apertures and the second aperture together form a locking eye when the clamp assembly is in the closed position.

10. The clamp assembly of claim 9 , wherein the first body further comprises a set of plates, the set of apertures extending through the set of plates, the set of plates spaced from each other to define a gap.

11. The clamp assembly of claim 10 , wherein the second body further comprises a middle plate, the second aperture extending through the middle plate, wherein the middle plate is received in the gap when in the closed position.

12. The clamp assembly of claim 9 , wherein the hinged end is located 180 degrees from the locking eye.

13. The clamp assembly of claim 9 , further comprising a shackle received in the locking eye.

14. The clamp assembly of claim 13 , wherein the shackle is a carabiner.

15. The clamp assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second body further comprises a set of hinge members defining at least a portion of the hinged end and spaced from each other to define a hinge gap.

16. The clamp assembly of claim 15 , further comprising a pin extending between the set of hinge members across the hinge gap to define a remaining portion of the hinged end.

17. The clamp assembly of claim 16 , wherein the first body further comprises a middle hinge member received in the hinge gap to define a remaining portion of the hinged end.

18. The clamp assembly of claim 17 , wherein the middle hinge member comprises a hook for engagement with the pin.

19. The clamp assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first body and the second body comprise a first finger hold and a second finger hold.

20. A clamp assembly comprising:

a clamp comprising:

a first body extending between an attachment end and a hinged end, the first body comprising at least one first rounded segment terminating in a first protrusion; and

a second body hingedly connected to the first body at the hinged end for movement of the first body and the second body between an opened position and a closed position; the second body comprising at least one second rounded segment terminating in a second protrusion;

wherein each of the first and second protrusions are formed with an arc and together define at least a portion of a hyperboloid geometry.
