Abstract

The present disclosure describes a conversation facilitation system for facilitating conversation-based social interactions to improve senior health, one or more operations and functions being efficiently achieved via this system comprise: receiving a dialog act of a conversation, applying natural language understanding (NLU) processing on the dialog act, computing a conversation metric, and generating a result of the conversation to conclude the conversation based on the conversation metric.

Claims (31)

1. A system, comprising:

one or more procesors;

a memory storing one or more instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to implement operations including:

identifying, with the one or more processors, a senior at risk of loneliness;

setting up a conversation of a plurality of human participants, wherein the plurality of human participants includes a senior at risk of loneliness;

identifying at least one of a subject for the conversation and a set of questions for the conversation;

monitoring, with the one or more processors, the conversation;

tracking, with the one or more processors, a topic of the conversation;

tracking, with the one or more processors, a mood of at least one participant of the conversation; and

generating, with the one or more processors, a conversation prompt, in response to the topic and mood, to intervene in the conversation and facilitate mitigation of loneliness in the senior at risk of loneliness.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the conversation prompt comprises a generic conversation prompt.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the conversation prompt comprises a subject specific prompt related to a current subject under discussion.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the conversation prompt comprises a new subject prompt.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the conversation prompt comprises a joke.

6. The system of claim 1 , further comprising applying sentiment analysis on the dialog act and using the sentiment analysis to track the mood of the conversation.

7. The system of claim 1 , further comprising proactively initiating the conversation to mitigate loneliness in a senior at risk of loneliness based upon detecting a risk factor for loneliness in the senior.

8. The system of claim 1 , further comprising generating, prior to the conversation of the plurality of human participants, a set of questions to structure the conversation to mitigate loneliness.

9. The system of claim 1 , further comprising the system generating, prior to the conversation of the plurality of human participants, at least one subject for the conversation.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the system generates, prior to the conversation of the plurality of human participants, a set of questions to structure the conversation to mitigate loneliness.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the system generates a subject of interest for the conversation.

12. A computer-implemented method comprising:

identifying that a senior is at risk of loneliness;

setting up a conversation of a plurality of human participants, wherein the plurality of human participants includes the senior at risk of loneliness;

monitoring, with one or more processors, the conversation of the plurality of human participants, wherein the plurality of human participants includes a senior at risk of loneliness;

tracking, with the one or more processors, a topic of the conversation;

tracking, with the one or more processors, a mood of at least one participant of the conversation; and

generating, with the one or more processors, a conversation prompt, in response to the topic and mood, to intervene in the conversation and facilitate mitigation of loneliness in the senior at risk of loneliness.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein sentiment analysis is performed to track the mood of the conversation.

14. The method of claim 12 , further comprising proactively initiating the conversation to mitigate loneliness in a senior at risk of loneliness based upon detecting a risk factor for loneliness in the senior.

15. The method of claim 12 , further comprising generating, prior to the conversation of the plurality of human participants, a set of questions to structure the conversation to mitigate loneliness.

16. The method of claim 12 , further comprising generating a subject of interest for the conversation.
