Abstract

Systems and methods for a media guidance application that adjusts output parameters of media assets delivered to output devices based on user preferences of users near the output devices. For example, the media guidance application may adjust the volume to be higher at a speaker near a first user who enjoys a particular media asset and lower at a speaker near a second user who dislikes the media asset.

Claims (52)

1. A method comprising:

identifying a user profile associated with a media device located in a vehicle, wherein the user profile comprises corresponding media preferences;

determining a media item accessed by the media device during a first trip;

updating the media preferences corresponding to the user profile during the first trip to include access of the determined media item;

during a second trip subsequent to the first trip, determining another media item from a plurality of media items based on the updated media preference corresponding to the user profile; and

recommending the determined another media item for output on the media device during the second trip.

2. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

determining a location of the media device within the vehicle.

3. The method of claim 2 , comprising:

adjusting the recommending based on the determined location of the media device within the vehicle.

4. The method of claim 2 , comprising:

determining another location of another media device within the vehicle.

5. The method of claim 4 , comprising:

adjusting the recommending based on the determined location of the media device within the vehicle and the determined another location of the another media device within the vehicle.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein an audio system of the vehicle includes the media device.

7. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

determining that another media device is present within the vehicle; and

adjusting the recommending based on pooled preferences of the media device and the another media device.

8. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

generating for display an indicator of a next media item for output; and

generating for selection an interest indicator associated with the next media item.

9. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

resetting the media preferences after a period of time.

10. The method of claim 9 , comprising:

resetting the media preferences after one continuous trip of the vehicle.

11. A system for a vehicle, the system comprising:

control circuitry configured to:

identify a user profile associated with a media device located in the vehicle, wherein the user profile comprises corresponding media preferences;

determine a media item accessed by the media device during a first trip;

update the media preferences corresponding to the user profile during the first trip to include access of the determined media item;

during a second trip subsequent to the first trip, determine another media item from a plurality of media items based on the updated media preference corresponding to the user profile; and

recommend the determined another media item for output on the media device during the second trip.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:

determine a location of the media device within the vehicle.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:

adjust the recommending based on the determined location of the media device within the vehicle.

14. The system of claim 12 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:

determine another location of another media device within the vehicle.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:

adjust the recommending based on the determined location of the media device within the vehicle and the determined another location of the another media device within the vehicle.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the vehicle comprises an audio system, and wherein the audio system includes the media device.

17. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:

determine that another media device is present within the vehicle; and

adjust the recommending based on pooled preferences of the media device and the another media device.

18. The system of claim 11 , comprising:

output circuitry of the vehicle configured to:

generate for display an indicator of a next media item for output; and

generate for selection an interest indicator associated with the next media item.

19. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:

reset the media preferences after a period of time.

20. The system of claim 9 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:

reset the media preferences after one continuous trip of the vehicle.
