Abstract

Automatic spotlighting of participant video feeds in a video conference are based on one or more triggers detected in the participant video feeds. Participant video feeds are added to a spotlight video queue. The participant video feeds are elevated to an active spotlight status based on certain criteria. The participant video feeds that are elevated to the active spotlight status are displayed adjacent to a host video feed on a display.

Claims (62)

1. A method, comprising:

updating a participant video feed based on a relevance score of the participant video feed that corresponds to an activity of the participant video feed and is based on a correlation between a first participant activity in the participant video feed and a second participant activity in a second participant video feed; and

outputting a display that includes the participant video feed adjacent to the second participant video feed.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity; and

adding the second participant video feed to a spotlight queue when the second relevance score is above a threshold.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity;

adding the second participant video feed to a spotlight queue when the second relevance score is above a threshold; and

updating the second participant video feed to an active spotlight status.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity; and

comparing the relevance score to the second relevance score.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity;

comparing the relevance score to the second relevance score, wherein the relevance score is greater than the second relevance score; and

adding the second participant video feed to a spotlight queue below the participant video feed based on the comparison of the relevance score and the second relevance score.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the relevance score is based on a correlation of a first object activity in the participant video feed relative to a second object activity in a host video feed.

8. A system, comprising:

a server comprising:

a memory configured to store instructions; and

processor configured to execute the instructions, wherein the processor is configured to:

update a participant video feed based on a relevance score of the participant video feed that corresponds to an activity of the participant video feed and is based on a correlation between a first participant activity in the participant video feed and a second participant activity in a second participant video feed; and

output a display that includes the participant video feed adjacent to the second participant video feed.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

determine a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

determine whether the activity is valid based on a duration of the activity; and

update the participant video feed to an active spotlight status based on a determination that the activity is valid.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

determine a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity;

add the second participant video feed to a spotlight queue when the second relevance score is above a threshold; and

update the second participant video feed to an active spotlight status.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

determine a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity; and

compare the relevance score to the second relevance score.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the server-processor is further configured to:

determine a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity;

compare the relevance score to the second relevance score, wherein the relevance score is greater than the second relevance score; and

add the second participant video feed to a spotlight queue below the participant video feed based on the comparison of the relevance score and the second relevance score.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the relevance score is based on a correlation of a first object activity in the participant video feed relative to a second object activity in a host video feed.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

updating a participant video feed based on a relevance score of the participant video feed that corresponds to an activity of the participant video feed and is based on a correlation between a first participant activity in the participant video feed and a second participant activity in a second participant video feed; and

outputting a display that includes the participant video feed adjacent to the second participant video feed.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising:

determining a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising:

determining a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity; and

outputting the second participant video feed for display in a spotlight queue when the second relevance score is above a threshold.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising:

determining a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity;

outputting the second participant video feed for display in a spotlight queue when the second relevance score is above a threshold; and

updating the second participant video feed to an active spotlight status.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising:

determining a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity; and

comparing the relevance score to the second relevance score.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising:

determining a second relevance score corresponding to the second participant activity;

comparing the relevance score to the second relevance score, wherein the relevance score is greater than the second relevance score; and

outputting the participant video feed for display in a spotlight queue above the second participant video feed based on the comparison of the relevance score and the second relevance score.
