Abstract

The window shade system may comprise shade fabric with a first portion and a second portion. A rod may be configured to include the second portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod. A hembar may receive the rod within a compartment of the hembar, wherein the compartment includes a first surface and a second surface, and wherein the rod and the second portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod are supported between the first surface and the second surface.

Claims (31)

1. A window shade system comprising:

shade fabric;

a rod that is configured to include a portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod; and

a hembar that receives the rod within a compartment of the hembar,

wherein the compartment includes a first surface and a second surface,

wherein a first section of the portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod interfaces with the first surface, in response to the hembar being raised, and

wherein a second section of the portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod interfaces with the second surface, in response to the hembar being lowered.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first surface or the second surface include a curved surface.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the compartment is at the top of the hembar.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the compartment includes an opening such that at least a portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod is exposed to an outside of the hembar.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein a first end of the hembar exposes a first end of the rod.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein a first end of the hembar is configured to at least one of: allow removable access by a tool, or allow the tool to be removably inserted into the hembar and interface with a head on a first end of the rod.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the rod is configured to rotate, in response to a rotation of a tool when interfacing with a head on a first end of the rod, such that that rotating of the rod adjusts a position of the hembar relative to the fabric.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod is not supported by any surfaces, aside from the first surface and the second surface.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the rod includes a head that is configured to be turned.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the rod includes at least one of a hex head that is configured to be turned with a hex key, a channel that is configured to be turned with a flat head screw driver, or a cross-hair that is configured to be turned with a screw driver having a head that is shaped like a fared cross with a rounded point.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first surface is at a first location and wherein the second surface is at a second location.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein a third section of the portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod is configured to exit outside of the hembar.

13. The system of claim 1 , wherein a third section of the portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod is configured to exit outside of the hembar between the first surface and the second surface.

14. The system of claim 1 , wherein forces are being asserted against the first surface above the rod, in response to the hembar being raised.

15. The system of claim 1 , wherein forces are being asserted against the second surface below the rod, in response to the hembar being lowered.

16. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a first shade band supporting a third section of the shade fabric and a lock, wherein the lock is configured to restrict the first shade band from unrolling.

17. The system of claim 1 , wherein the portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod includes a third section that is exposed outside of the hembar.

18. The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first surface supports an upper portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod or the second surface supports a lower portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod, in response to the portion of the shade fabric at least one of unwinding or winding around the rod.

19. A window shade system comprising:

a shade fabric;

a rod that is configured to include a portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod; and

a hembar that receives the rod between a first surface and a second surface,

wherein a first section of the portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod interfaces with the first surface, in response to the hembar being raised, and

wherein a second section of the portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod interfaces with the second surface, in response to the hembar being lowered.

20. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first surface is at a first location above the rod and wherein the second surface is at a second location below the rod.
