Abstract

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first common electrode and a second common electrode arranged in a first direction, a first switch unit selectively supplying a first drive signal or a second drive signal different from the first drive signal to the first common electrode, and a second switch unit selectively supplying the first drive signal or the second drive signal to the second common electrode, wherein the second common electrode and the first switch unit are arranged in a second direction intersecting the first direction, the first switch unit comprises a first switch circuit and a second switch circuit arranged in the second direction.

Claims (27)

1. A display device comprising:

a base;

pixels arrayed in a display area;

a first common electrode in the display area;

a second common electrode in the display area; and

a first transparent conductive layer outside the display area, wherein

the second common electrode is located next to the first common electrode and is separated from the first common electrode,

the first common electrode is located between the second common electrode and the first transparent conductive layer,

the display area includes a corner portion,

the first common electrode includes a first edge formed in a step shaped pattern along the corner portion,

the first transparent conductive layer includes a second edge formed in a step shaped pattern along the corner portion,

the first edge faces the second edge, and

the first edge is separated from the second edge with a gap.

2. The display device of claim 1 , wherein

the base includes a first long edge and a first short edge,

the display area includes a second long edge along the first long edge and a second short edge along the first short edge,

a first point of the corner portion is connected to the second long edge,

a second point of the corner portion is connected to the second short edge,

the first short edge extends in a first direction, and

the gap along the first direction gradually increases from the first point to the second point.

3. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the step shaped pattern of the first edge is different from the step shaped pattern of the second edge.

4. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the first transparent conductive layer is supplied with a fixed potential.

5. The display device of claim 4 , wherein the fixed potential is a VGL.

6. The display device of claim 1 , further comprising a second transparent conductive layer located in the gap, wherein

the second transparent conductive layer includes a third edge formed in a step shaped pattern along the first edge and a fourth edge formed in a step shaped pattern along the second edge,

the first edge is separated from the third edge in the gap, and

the second edge is separated from the fourth edge in the gap.
