Abstract

Claims (29)

1. A system comprising:

a central unit;

a plurality of electronic modules, connected to the central unit, each configured to be connected to a corresponding photovoltaic panel of a plurality of photovoltaic panels and convert power from the corresponding photovoltaic panel to the central unit; and

a camera connected to the central unit,

wherein based on a signal from the central unit, each electronic module of the plurality of electronic modules is configured to reverse bias the corresponding photovoltaic panel, and

wherein the central unit is configured to control the camera to capture one or more image frames of the plurality of photovoltaic panels, and monitor, based on an analysis of the one or more image frames, a response of each of the plurality of photovoltaic panels to the reverse bias.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the camera is an infrared radiation camera, and the one or more image frames are infrared radiation image frames.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the infrared radiation camera uses electromagnetic radiation at wavelengths between 700 nanometers and 1 millimeter.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein each electronic module of the plurality of electronic modules is further configured to reverse bias the corresponding photovoltaic panel for a period of time.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the central unit comprises an inverter configured to convert direct current (DC) power from each electronic module of the plurality of electronic modules to alternating current (AC) power.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the central unit comprises a transmitter configured to transmit the signal.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the central unit transmits the signal over power lines connecting the plurality of electronic modules to the central unit.

8. The system of claim 6 , wherein the central unit transmits the signal via a wireless connection between the central unit and each electronic module of the plurality of electronic modules.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein each electronic module of the plurality of electronic modules comprises a receiver configured to receive the signal.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein each electronic module of the plurality of electronic modules comprises a direct current (DC) to DC converter.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein each electronic module of the plurality of electronic modules comprises a direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) converter.

12. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a processor, connected to the central unit, configured to analyze the one or more image frames for monitoring the response of each of the plurality of photovoltaic panels to the reverse bias.

13. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a memory, connected to the central unit, configured to store the one or more image frames.

14. A method comprising:

transmitting, by a central unit, a signal to a plurality of electronic modules providing power to the central unit;

causing each of the plurality of electronic modules to, based on the signal, reverse bias a corresponding photovoltaic panel of a plurality of photovoltaic panels, wherein each of the plurality of electronic modules is connected to a corresponding photovoltaic panel of the plurality of photovoltaic panels;

controlling a camera to capture one or more image frames of the plurality of photovoltaic panels; and

monitoring, based on an analysis of the one or more image frames of the plurality of photovoltaic panels, a response of each of the plurality of photovoltaic panels to reverse bias.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the one or more image frames are infrared image frames.

16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the camera uses electromagnetic radiation at wavelengths between 700 nanometers and 1 millimeter.

17. The method of claim 14 , wherein the causing comprises causing each electronic module of the plurality of electronic modules to reverse bias the corresponding photovoltaic panel for a period of time.

18. The method of claim 14 , wherein the transmitting the signal comprises transmitting the signal over power lines connecting the central unit to the plurality of electronic modules.

19. The method of claim 14 , wherein the transmitting the signal comprises transmitting the signal via a wireless connection between the central unit and each electronic module of the plurality of electronic modules.

20. The method of claim 14 , further comprising storing, in a memory, the one or more image frames.
