Abstract

An apparatus is disclosed, comprising a detector unit comprising a detector configured to detect an actuation action performable via the detector unit to an actuation button of a medical device to cause the medical device to eject at least a portion of a medicament comprised in the medical device. The detector is configured to detect the actuation action based on a detection of a force and/or a touch applied to the detector unit as part of the actuation action. The apparatus further comprises an electric unit connected to the detector and configured to store and/or provide information related to the detected actuation action. Furthermore, an according method and a computer program for controlling this method are disclosed.

Claims (32)

1. A monitoring apparatus for releasable attachment to a medicament delivery device, the monitoring apparatus comprising:

a housing;

an electric circuit arranged in the housing, the electric circuit configured to monitor one or more functions of the medicament delivery device;

an attachment unit configured to releasably attach the monitoring apparatus to the medicament delivery device, wherein the attachment unit comprises a plurality of arms configured to at least partially embrace an outer circumference of at least a portion of the medicament delivery device; and

a detector configured to detect an actuation action performed with the medicament delivery device.

2. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the detector is arranged to be activated by an actuation element during performance of the actuation action to detect the actuation action.

3. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the detector is arranged to detect the actuation action based on detection of an actuation force applied axially with respect to a longitudinal axis of the medicament delivery device.

4. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the detector comprises a piezoelectric sensor.

5. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the detector comprises an electric switch.

6. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the actuation action is performable to an actuation button of the medicament delivery device.

7. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein the actuation action is performable to the actuation button of the medicament delivery device via the detector.

8. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the actuation action is to cause the medicament delivery device to eject at least a portion of a medicament in the medicament delivery device.

9. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the detector is arranged to activate the electric circuit responsive to detection of the actuation action.

10. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising an LED configured to indicate information related to the actuation action.

11. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein the electric circuit is configured to cause the LED to be switched on responsive to the detector detecting the actuation action.

12. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein the electric circuit is configured to cause the LED to be switched on for a predetermined period of time.

13. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the detector is comprised in a detector unit, and wherein the detector is configured to detect the actuation action based on detecting a movement and/or a deformation of at least a part of the detector unit caused by an actuation force.

14. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the electric circuit is configured to determine a length of a time interval during which the actuation action is applied, and to store and/or provide information related to the determined length of said time interval and/or to store and/or provide information related to the actuation action in dependence on the determined length of the time interval.

15. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a dose determination unit configured to determine a dose of a medicament, wherein the dose determination unit is connected to the electric circuit, and wherein the electric circuit is further configured to store and/or provide information related to the determined dose.

16. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 15 , wherein the dose determination unit is configured to determine the dose by sensing sounds that occur when the medicament delivery device is operated, or by sensing a movement of a component of the medicament delivery device.

17. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the electric circuit is further configured to provide information allowing for identifying the medicament delivery device.

18. A method comprising detecting, using a detector of a monitoring apparatus, an actuation action performed to a medicament delivery device, the monitoring apparatus configured for releasable attachment to the medicament delivery device and comprising:

a housing;

an electric circuit arranged in the housing, the electric circuit configured to monitor one or more functions of the medicament delivery device;

an attachment unit configured to releasably attach the monitoring apparatus to the medicament delivery device, the attachment unit comprising a plurality of arms configured to at least partially embrace an outer circumference of at least a portion of the medicament delivery device; and

the detector.

19. One or more non-transitory computer readable storage media comprising one or more instructions that, once executed by one or more processors of a detector of a monitoring apparatus, cause the detector to perform operations, the operations comprising:

detecting an actuation action performed to a medicament delivery device, the monitoring apparatus configured for releasable attachment to the medicament delivery device and comprising:

a housing;

an electric circuit arranged in the housing, the electric circuit configured to monitor one or more functions of the medicament delivery device;

an attachment unit configured to releasably attach the monitoring apparatus to the medicament delivery device, the attachment unit comprising a plurality of arms configured to at least partially embrace an outer circumference of at least a portion of the medicament delivery device; and

the detector.
