Abstract

A tonneau cover to cover a bed or cargo box of a truck is provided. The tonneau cover includes a bulkhead panel, one or more cover panels, and at least one stack support. The one or more cover panels are foldable onto the bulkhead panel. The at least one stack support is attached to the bulkhead panel. The at least one stack support also includes a top surface that supports the one or more cover panels in a generally upright position. A first angled run is located on the at least one stack support. The first angled run is part of the top surface of the at least one stack support. A second angled run is located on the at least one stack support and extending away from the first angled run. The second angled run is part of the top surface of the at least one stack support.

Claims (48)

1 . A tonneau cover comprising:

a bulkhead panel;

a plurality of panels foldable into a stack of panels;

at least one stack support attached to the bulkhead panel;

wherein the at least one stack support includes a top surface that supports the stack of panels in a generally upright position;

a first angled run located on the at least one stack support;

wherein the first angled run is part of the top surface of the at least one stack support; and

a second angled run located on the at least one stack support and extending away from the first angled run;

wherein the second angled run is part of the top surface of the at least one stack support;

wherein a first end of the second angled run forms a vertex with a first end of the first angled run;

wherein the first angled run is positioned at an acute angle with respect to the top surface of the bulkhead panel;

wherein the second angled run is positioned at an acute angle with respect to the top surface of the bulkhead panel; and

wherein the first angled run is longer than the second angled run.

2 . The tonneau cover of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of panels are composed of five panels foldable with respect to each other and at least one panel of the plurality of panels foldable and connected to the bulkhead panel.

3 . The tonneau cover of claim 1 , wherein at least two panels of the plurality of panels are not oriented parallel to each other when the plurality of panels are folded into the stack of panels.

4 . The tonneau cover of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of panels are composed of five panels.

5 . The tonneau cover of claim 4 , further comprising a first spacer located between a second panel and a third panel of the plurality of panels, a second spacer located between the third panel and a fourth panel of the plurality of panels, and a third spacer located between the fourth panel and a fifth panel of the plurality of panels.

6 . The tonneau cover of claim 5 , wherein the first spacer and the second spacer have substantially the same widths.

7 . The tonneau cover of claim 1 , wherein a first panel of the plurality of panels includes at least one latch assembly tab of a latching assembly extending from an underside of the first panel and adjacent a rear end of the first panel which prevents the first panel from stacking substantially parallel to at least one or more folding panels of the plurality of panels when folded into the stack of panels.

8 . The tonneau cover of claim 7 , wherein the first panel of the plurality of panels includes at least one block extending from the underside of the first panel and adjacent the at latch assembly tab to also prevent the first panel from stacking substantially parallel to the at least one or more folding panels of the plurality of panels when folded into the stack of panels.

9 . The tonneau cover of claim 8 , wherein the at least one block is made of a foam material.

10 . The tonneau cover of claim 1 , wherein a first panel of the plurality of panels includes at least one latch assembly tab of a latching assembly extending from an underside of the first panel and adjacent a rear end of the first panel which prevents the first panel from stacking substantially parallel to a third panel of the plurality of panels when folded into the stack of panels.

11 . A tonneau cover comprising:

a bulkhead panel;

a plurality of panels foldable into a stack of panels;

at least one stack support attached to the bulkhead panel;

wherein the at least one stack support includes a top surface that supports the stack of panels in a generally upright position;

a first angled run located on the at least one stack support;

wherein the first angled run is part of the top surface of the at least one stack support; and

a second angled run located on the at least one stack support and extending away from the first angled run;

wherein the second angled run is part of the top surface of the at least one stack support.

12 . The tonneau cover of claim 11 , wherein a first end of the second angled run forms a vertex with a first end of the first angled run.

13 . The tonneau cover of claim 11 , wherein the first angled run is positioned at an acute angle with respect to the top surface of the bulkhead panel.

14 . The tonneau cover of claim 11 , wherein the second angled run is positioned at an acute angle with respect to the top surface of the bulkhead panel.

15 . The tonneau cover of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of panels are composed of five panels foldable with respect to each other and at least one panel of the plurality of panels foldable and connected to the bulkhead panel.

16 . The tonneau cover of claim 11 , wherein at least two panels of the plurality of panels are not oriented parallel to each other when the plurality of panels are folded into the stack of panels.

17 . A tonneau cover comprising:

a bulkhead panel;

one or more cover panels foldable onto the bulkhead panel;

at least one stack support attached to the bulkhead panel;

wherein the at least one stack support includes a top surface that supports the one or more cover panels in a generally upright position;

a first angled run located on the at least one stack support;

wherein the first angled run is part of the top surface of the at least one stack support; and

a second angled run located on the at least one stack support and extending away from the first angled run;

wherein the second angled run is part of the top surface of the at least one stack support.

18 . The tonneau cover of claim 17 , wherein a first end of the second angled run forms a vertex with a first end of the first angled run.

19 . The tonneau cover of claim 17 , wherein a first end of the second angled run forms a vertex with a first end of the first angled run to form a V-shape to the top surface.

20 . The tonneau cover of claim 17 , wherein the first angled run is longer than the second angled run.
