Abstract

This invention is a device or system which modifies the temperatures of one or more climate zones on a bed using liquid-flow tubes (or channels) which are inside air-flow tubes (or channels). The locations and shapes of the climate zones can be customized by one or more people in the bed.

Claims (28)

1 . A sleep-enhancing device comprising:

a bedding component configured to be under or over a person in bed;

a plurality of air-flow tubes or channels through the bedding component, wherein air-flow tubes or channels in the plurality of air-flow tubes or channels conduct a flow of cooled or heated air, and wherein there are openings in the air-flow tubes or channels through which air flows flow out of the air-flow tubes toward the person; and

a plurality of liquid-flow tubes or channels through the bedding component, wherein liquid-flow tubes or channels in the plurality of liquid-flow tubes or channels conduct a flow of cooled or heated liquid, and wherein the liquid-flow tubes or channels cool or heat air in the air-flow tubes or channels.

2 . The device in claim 1 wherein the bedding component is a mattress, mattress pad, mattress topper, blanket, bedspread, comforter, or quilt.

3 . The device in claim 2 wherein the bedding component is a comforter with holes which emit air so that the comforter is a holy comforter.

4 . The device in claim 1 wherein the liquid-flow tubes or channels are inside the air-flow tubes or channels.

5 . The device in claim 1 wherein the liquid-flow tubes or channels are centrally located within the air-flow tubes or channels.

6 . The device in claim 1 wherein the liquid-flow tubes or channels are nested within the air-flow tubes or channels.

7 . A sleep-enhancing device comprising:

a bedding component which is configured to be under or over a person in bed;

a first climate zone of the bedding component, wherein the first climate zone can have a first configuration, and wherein the first climate zone can have a second configuration; and

a second climate zone of the bedding component, wherein the second climate zone can have a third configuration, and wherein the first climate zone can have a fourth configuration.

8 . The device in claim 7 wherein the bedding component is a mattress, mattress pad, mattress topper, blanket, bedspread, comforter, or quilt.

9 . The device in claim 7 wherein the first climate zone is in a first location in the first configuration and in a second location in the second configuration.

10 . The device in claim 9 wherein the first climate zone and the second climate zone are farther apart in their second and fourth configurations, respectively, than in their first and third configurations, respectively.

11 . The device in claim 9 wherein the first climate zone and the second climate zone are closer to the middle of the bed in their second and fourth configurations, respectively, than in their first and third configurations, respectively.

12 . The device in claim 7 wherein the first climate zone has a first shape in the first configuration and has a second shape in the second configuration.

13 . The device in claim 12 wherein the first climate zone and the second climate zone are less similar in shape in their second and fourth configurations, respectively, than in their first and third configurations, respectively.

14 . The device in claim 7 wherein the configurations of climate zones are changed by opening or closing flow valves which regulate the flow of warming or cooling liquid or air through tubes or channels in the bedding component.

15 . The device in claim 14 wherein the valves are opened or closed manually by the person.

16 . The device in claim 14 wherein the valves are opened or closed by electromagnetic actuators.

17 . The device in claim 16 wherein the electromagnetic actuators are controlled remotely by the person.

18 . A sleep-enhancing device comprising:

a bedding component which is configured to be under a person in bed; and

a soft and/or plush remote control, wherein squeezing the soft and/or plush remote control activates the device to modify the person's sleep environment.

19 . The device in claim 18 wherein the bedding component has cooling or warming elements which are activated when the soft and/or plush remote control is squeezed by the person.

20 . The device in claim 18 wherein squeezing the soft and/or plush remote control activates the device to modify the person's sleep environment in one or more ways selected from the group consisting of: noise cancellation; playing white, pink, or brown noise; changing the ambient light level; masking sound; vibrating a mattress; emitting light; adjusting the firmness of a bed; muting messages from a phone or other electronic device; activating an air fan; cooling a bed; playing music; changing the inclination of a bed; emitting a scent; adjusting home security settings; and warming a bed.
