Abstract

A faceplate assembly may include a faceplate having an opening configured to receive an electrical device insert, and an adapter that is disposed between the faceplate and a structure. The adapter may abut a surface of the structure. The one or more biasing members may apply forces against the faceplate that may cause the faceplate to be biased outward relative to the surface of the structure.

Claims (19)

1 . An electrical wallbox mounting apparatus, comprising

an electrical device insert that includes a flange portion having front surface and rear surface

a yoke member having an aperture to receive the electrical device insert, the aperture at least partially surrounded by a flange portion;

a faceplate member having a front surface, a rear surface and an aperture to accommodate passage of electrical device insert; and

a plurality of biasing members disposed between the yoke flange and the rear surface of the faceplate, the biasing members to bias the faceplate away from the yoke such that the front surface of the faceplate is substantially flush with the front surface of the electrical device insert.

2 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 1 wherein the faceplate further comprises at least one ledge projecting inward from the aperture, the at least one ledge to provide a contact surface for at least a portion of the rear surface of the electrical device insert.

3 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 2 wherein the plurality of biasing members comprise a plurality of biasing members physically coupled to the faceplate member.

4 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 3 wherein the plurality biasing members comprise a plurality of resilient fingers extending from the rear surface of the faceplate member.

5 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising:

a spacer member positionable between the yoke member and the faceplate member.

6 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 5 wherein the plurality of biasing members comprise a plurality of biasing members physically coupled to the spacer member.

7 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 6 , further comprising:

an adapter member positionable between the spacer member and the rear surface of the faceplate member.

8 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 5 wherein the spacer member comprises a resilient foam spacer member.

9 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 1 wherein the plurality of biasing members comprise a plurality of compressible foam biasing members.

10 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 1 wherein the faceplate member comprises a planar faceplate member having a peripheral wall portion extending from the rear surface of the faceplate member.

11 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 10 wherein the faceplate member further comprises a peripheral wall portion extending about the perimeter of the aperture from the rear surface of the faceplate member.

12 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 11 wherein the flange portion of the electrical device insert comprises a rectangular flange.

13 . The electrical wallbox mounting apparatus of claim 11 wherein the aperture formed in the faceplate comprises a rectangular aperture to accommodate the rectangular flange portion of the electrical device insert.
