Abstract

Communications over short-range connections are used to facilitate whether access to resources is to be granted. For example, upon device discovery of one of an electronic user device and an electronic client device by the other device over a Bluetooth Low Energy connection, an access-enabling code associated with a user device or account can be evaluated for validity and applicability with respect to one or more particular resource specifications. User identity can be verified by comparing the user against previously obtained biometric information.

Claims (48)

1. A method for authorizing a user having an access-enabling code to an event, the method comprising:

receiving, by a user device, biometric credentials from the user assigned to the user device, wherein the biometric credentials includes one or more of: a self-portrait, a fingerprint or a voiceprint;

receiving, by the user device, one or more wireless signals from a client device;

detecting, by the user device, the client device based the one or more wireless signals;

establishing, by the user device, a short-range communication channel with the client device;

transmitting, by the user device, a first signal including the biometric credentials and a user public key to the client device;

receiving, by the user device, a second signal including encoded biometric credentials, wherein the biometric credentials are encoded using the user public key;

decoding, by the user device, the second signal including the encoded biometric credentials using a private key;

generating, by the user device, decoded biometric credentials; and

presenting, by the user device, the decoded biometric credentials to the client device for entry into the event.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user device is further configured to determine access-enabling code, wherein the access-enabling code allows the user to access to the event.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user device is further configured to transmit the access-enabling code to the client device.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the user device is further configured to transmit the access-enabling code to the client device using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the client device is further configured to verify the access-enabling code to determine that the access-enabling code represents a valid access right to the event.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the decoded biometric credentials are presented to the client device to verify an identity of the user.

7. The method of claim 1 , the user device is further configured to encrypt the access-enabling code.

8. A system authorizing a user having an access-enabling code to an event, comprising: one or more processors; and

a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium containing instructions which, when executed on the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations including:

obtain biometric credentials from the user assigned to a user device, wherein the biometric credentials includes one or more of: a self-portrait, a fingerprint or a voiceprint;

receive one or more wireless signals from a client device;

detect the client device based the one or more wireless signals;

establish a short-range communication channel with the detected client device;

transmit a first signal including the biometric credentials and a user public key to the client device;

receive a second signal including encoded biometric credentials, wherein the biometric credentials are encoded using the user public key;

decode the received second signal including the encoded biometric credentials using a private key;

generate decoded biometric credentials; and

present the decoded biometric credentials to the client device for entry into the event.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to determine access-enabling code, wherein the access-enabling code allows the user to access to the event.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to transmit the access-enabling code to the client device.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the access-enabling code is transmitted to the client device via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein one or more processors are configured to verify the access-enabling code to determine that the access-enabling code includes a valid access right to the event.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the decoded biometric credentials are presented to the client device to verify an identity of the user.

14. The system of claim 8 , the one or more processors are further configured to encrypt the access-enabling code.

15. A computer-program product tangibly embodied in a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium, including instructions configured to cause a processing apparatus to perform operations for authorizing a user having an access-enabling code to an event, including:

receiving biometric credentials from the user assigned to a user device, wherein the biometric credentials includes one or more of: a self-portrait, a fingerprint or a voiceprint;

receiving one or more wireless signals from a client device;

detecting the client device based the one or more wireless signals;

establishing a short-range communication channel with the detected client device;

transmitting a first signal including the biometric credentials and a user public key to the client device;

receiving a second signal including encoded biometric credentials, wherein the biometric credentials are encoded using the user public key;

decoding the received second signal including the encoded biometric credentials using a private key;

generating decoded biometric credentials; and

presenting the decoded biometric credentials to the client device for entry into the event.

16. The computer-program product of claim 15 , further comprises determining access-enabling code, wherein the access-enabling code allows the user to access to the event.

17. The computer-program product of claim 15 , further comprises transmitting the access-enabling code to the client device.

18. The computer-program product of claim 17 , further comprises transmitting the access-enabling code to the client device via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication.

19. The computer-program product of claim 15 , further comprises verifying the access-enabling code to determine that the access-enabling code that includes a valid access right to the event.

20. The computer-program product of claim 15 , further comprises presenting the decoded biometric credentials to the client device to verify an identity of the user.
