Abstract

The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for facilitating two-way communication sessions using serverless cloud-based functions configured in a function-as-a-service (FaaS) system. One example includes accessing a template configured to execute a response based on an event, facilitating a two-way communication session with a user device, and processing data of the two-way communication session to identify an event trigger corresponding to the template. Execution of a serverless cloud-based function associated with the event trigger is requested, and one or more outputs of the serverless cloud-based function associated with the event trigger are integrated into the two-way communication session.

Claims (46)

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving, at a serverless cloud-based system, a function call including transmitted code associated with a serverless cloud-based function, wherein the function call is associated with an event trigger from a two-way communication session between a user device and a communication server, and wherein the transmitted code includes custom logic to develop a conversational experience for the two-way communication session in response to a survey submitted event;

executing the transmitted code using processing resources allocated for the serverless cloud-based function;

storing the transmitted code in the serverless cloud-based system;

executing the transmitted code stored in the serverless cloud-based system for an additional function call associated with the serverless cloud-based function and associated with additional two-way communication sessions; and

transmitting one or more outputs of the serverless cloud-based function, wherein when the one or more outputs are transmitted to the communication server, the one or more outputs are integrated into the two-way communication session.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the function call is received based on an identification of the event trigger corresponding to a template.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the function call includes data from the two-way communication session and wherein executing the transmitted code includes analyzing the data from the two-way communication session.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a function termination trigger;

executing the transmitted code in response to the function termination trigger; and

deleting the transmitted code from the serverless cloud-based system.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

dynamically allocating processing resources of the serverless cloud-based system for execution of the transmitted code.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the transmitted code further includes custom logic to develop the conversational experience for the two-way communication session in response to a conversation started event and wherein the transmitted code associated with the serverless cloud-based function provides real-time natural language processing for a specialized topic associated with the two-way communication session.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising terminating execution of the serverless cloud-based function based on a termination of the two-way communication session.

8. A system comprising:

memory; and

one or more processors of a serverless cloud-based system coupled to the memory, the one or more processors configured to perform operations comprising:

receiving, at a serverless cloud-based system, a function call including transmitted code associated with a serverless cloud-based function, wherein the function call is associated with an event trigger from a two-way communication session between a user device and a communication server, and wherein the transmitted code includes custom logic to develop a conversational experience for the two-way communication session in response to a survey submitted event;

executing the transmitted code using processing resources allocated for the serverless cloud-based function;

storing the transmitted code in the serverless cloud-based system;

executing the transmitted code stored in the serverless cloud-based system for an additional function call associated with the serverless cloud-based function and associated with additional two-way communication sessions; and

transmitting one or more outputs of the serverless cloud-based function, wherein when the one or more outputs are transmitted to the communication server, the one or more outputs are integrated into the two-way communication session.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the function call includes data from the two-way communication session and wherein executing the transmitted code includes analyzing the data from the two-way communication session.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to perform operations comprising:

receiving a function termination trigger;

executing the transmitted code in response to the function termination trigger; and

deleting the transmitted code from the serverless cloud-based system.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to perform operations comprising:

dynamically allocating processing resources of the serverless cloud-based system for execution of the transmitted code.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the transmitted code further includes custom logic to develop the conversational experience for the two-way communication session in response to a conversation started event and wherein the transmitted code associated with the serverless cloud-based function provides real-time natural language processing for a specialized topic associated with the two-way communication session.

13. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a serverless cloud-based system, cause performance of operations comprising:

receiving, at a serverless cloud-based system, a function call including transmitted code associated with a serverless cloud-based function, wherein the function call is associated with an event trigger from a two-way communication session between a user device and a communication server, and wherein the transmitted code includes custom logic to develop a conversational experience for the two-way communication session in response to a survey submitted event;

executing the transmitted code using processing resources allocated for the serverless cloud-based function;

storing the transmitted code in the serverless cloud-based system;

executing the transmitted code stored in the serverless cloud-based system for an additional function call associated with the serverless cloud-based function and associated with additional two-way communication sessions; and

transmitting one or more outputs of the serverless cloud-based function, wherein when the one or more outputs are transmitted to the communication server, the one or more outputs are integrated into the two-way communication session.

14. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the function call includes data from the two-way communication session and wherein executing the transmitted code includes analyzing the data from the two-way communication session.

15. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein when the instructions are executed by the one or more processors, the instructions cause performance of additional operations comprising:

receiving a function termination trigger;

executing the transmitted code in response to the function termination trigger; and

deleting the transmitted code from the serverless cloud-based system.

16. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein when the instructions are executed by the one or more processors, the instructions cause performance of additional operations comprising:

dynamically allocating processing resources of the serverless cloud-based system for execution of the transmitted code.

17. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the transmitted code further includes custom logic to develop the conversational experience for the two-way communication session in response to a conversation started event and wherein the transmitted code associated with the serverless cloud-based function provides real-time natural language processing for a specialized topic associated with the two-way communication session.
