Abstract

A system includes a first computing device client associated with a first user in a community of users operable to send content to publish to a data aggregation server. The data aggregation server is operable to receive the content to publish from the first computing device client, host a first user profile associated with the first user of the first computing device client, the first user profile identifying a targeted recipient in the community of users, and disseminate automatically the content received from the first computing device client to a second computing device client associated with the targeted recipient, without receiving input from the first computing device client explicitly specifying the targeted recipient to whom the content is disseminated.

Claims (41)

1. A system for publishing content to communities of users of an information service, comprising:

a memory configured to host personal information associated with the users of the information service, the personal information including data indicating one or more communities that users are associated with and further including data indicating one or more relationships between users; and

one or more hardware processors configured to:

receive a user-defined keyword from a computing device associated with a first user, wherein the user-defined keyword is associated with content that is published on the information service;

receive the user-defined keyword from a computing device associated with a second user, wherein the user-defined keyword received from the computing device associated with the second user is the same user-defined keyword received from the computing device associated with the first user;

establish a relationship in the information service between the second user and a third user, wherein the relationship is established based on a relationship request received from a computing device associated with the third user;

receive content to publish from a computing device associated with a publishing user of the information service, wherein the content to publish includes the user-defined keyword;

publish the received content on the information service such that the published content is accessible by one or more targeted recipients,

wherein the published content is published without receiving input from the computing device associated with the publishing user explicitly specifying the targeted recipients,

wherein the targeted recipients are identified based on an association between the targeted recipients and the user-defined keyword included in the received content; and

send a message to the computing device associated with the third user indicating that information from the computing device associated with the second user is available on the information service such that the third user can access the available information from the computing device associated with the second user via the computing device associated with the third user that has been authenticated by a token exchanged with the computing device associated with the third user.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the message is sent based on the established relationship between the second user and the third user.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the message is sent via an intermediary server that provides wireless connectivity between the system and the computing device associated with the third user.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the relationship is established when a profile of the second user is available to accept the relationship request from the computing device associated with the third user, and the computing device associated with the third user generates the relationship request to establish the relationship between the second user and the third user.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more hardware processors are further configured to suggest a community for the second user based on other communities the second user is associated with.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more hardware processors are further configured to suggest a community for the second user based on the user-defined keyword provided by the computing device associated with the second user.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the content to publish from the computing device associated with the publishing user includes additional user-defined keywords.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the message is sent if the information from the computing device associated with the second user meets qualifications specified by the third user.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the message further contains an indication of the information from the computing device associated with the second user.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more hardware processors are further configured to send the available information to the second user in response to receiving a request from the second user.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more hardware processors are further configured to send the available information to the second user based on the message.

12. A method for publishing content to communities of users of an information service, the method comprising:

hosting personal information associated with the users of the information service, the personal information including data indicating one or more communities that users are associated with and further including data indicating one or more relationships between users;

receiving a user-defined keyword from a computing device associated with a first user, wherein the user-defined keyword is associated with content that is published on the information service;

receiving the user-defined keyword from a computing device associated with a second user, wherein the user-defined keyword received from the computing device associated with the second user is the same user-defined keyword received from the computing device associated with the first user;

establishing a relationship in the information service between the second user and a third user, wherein the relationship is established based on a relationship request received from a computing device associated with the third user;

receiving content to publish from a computing device associated with a publishing user of the information service, wherein the content to publish includes the user-defined keyword;

publishing the received content on the information service such that the published content is accessible by one or more targeted recipients,

wherein the published content is published without receiving input from the computing device associated with the publishing user explicitly specifying the targeted recipients,

wherein the targeted recipients are identified based on an association between the targeted recipients and the user-defined keyword included in the received content; and

sending a message to the computing device associated with the third user indicating that information from the computing device associated with the second user is available on the information service such that the third user can access the available information from the computing device associated with the second user via the computing device associated with the third user that has been authenticated by a token exchanged with the computing device associated with the third user.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the message is sent based on the established relationship between the second user and the third user.

14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the message is sent via an intermediary server that provides wireless connectivity between the information service and the computing device associated with the third user.

15. The method of claim 12 , wherein the relationship is established when a profile of the second user is available to accept the relationship request from the computing device associated with the third user, and the computing device associated with the third user generates the relationship request to establish the relationship between the second user and the third user.

16. The method of claim 12 , further comprising suggesting a community for the second user based on other communities the second user is associated with.

17. The method of claim 12 , further comprising suggesting a community for the second user based on the user-defined keyword provided by the computing device associated with the second user.

18. The method of claim 12 , wherein the content to publish from the computing device associated with the publishing user includes additional user-defined keywords.

19. The method of claim 12 , wherein the message is sent if the information from the computing device associated with the second user meets qualifications specified by the third user.

20. The method of claim 12 , wherein the message further contains an indication of the information from the computing device associated with the second user.

21. The method of claim 12 , further comprising sending the available information to the second user in response to receiving a request from the second user.

22. The method of claim 12 , further comprising sending the available information to the second user based on the message.
