Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices for leveraging data from multiple data sources are described. A method includes receiving physiological data associated with a user from a wearable device and receiving additional data from an external device different from the wearable device, the additional data including at least data associated with characteristics of an environment associated with the user. The method further includes identifying one or more relationships between the collected physiological data and the characteristics of the environment associated with the user, and causing a graphical user interface (GUI) of a user device to display an indication of the one or more relationships, a message associated with the one or more relationships, or both. In some cases, the method includes causing the GUI to display instructions for selectively adjusting the one or more characteristics of the environment associated with the user based on the one or more relationships.

Claims (51)

1 . A system, comprising:

a wearable device configured to measure photoplethysmogram (PPG) data from a user using one or more light-emitting components and one or more light-receiving components;

a user device communicatively coupled with the wearable device; and

one or more processors communicatively coupled with the wearable device and the user device, the one or more processors configured to:

receive baseline PPG data measured from the user by the wearable device during a first time interval, the baseline PPG data associated with a respiratory rate of the user throughout the first time interval;

receive environmental data associated with one or more allergens present in a first geographical location of the user during the first time interval;

identify one or more relationships between the respiratory rate of the user and the one or more allergens based at least in part on the baseline PPG data and the environmental data;

receive additional environmental data associated with the one or more allergens present in a second geographical location of the user during a second time interval that is subsequent to the first time interval; and

transmit an instruction configured to cause the wearable device, the user device, or both, to display an alert associated with the one or more allergens based at least in part on the one or more relationships and the additional environmental data.

2 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

one or more external devices that are configured to control or adjust one or more characteristics of a surrounding environment associated with the user, wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

transmit a second instruction to the one or more external devices to cause the one or more external devices to modify one or more characteristics of the surrounding environment of the user based at least in part on the additional environmental data and the one or more relationships between the respiratory rate of the user and the one or more allergens.

3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the one or more external devices comprise an air filter configured to reduce or control a quantity of the one or more allergens in the surrounding environment of the user.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

calculate an allergen score associated with the user based at least in part on the one or more relationships and the additional environmental data, wherein the allergen score is associated with a relative susceptibility, a relative response severity, or both, of the user to the one or more allergens present in the second geographical location, and wherein the instruction is configured to cause the wearable device, the user device, or both, to display an indication of the allergen score.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more allergens comprise a first set of allergens, wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

receive additional PPG data measured from the user by the wearable device during an additional time interval, the additional PPG data associated with the respiratory rate of the user throughout the additional time interval;

receive third environmental data associated with a second set of allergens present during the additional time interval, wherein the second set of allergens is different from the first set of allergens;

identify one or more additional relationships between the respiratory rate of the user and the second set of allergens based at least in part on the additional PPG data and the third environmental data; and

identify an allergen-specific relationship between the respiratory rate of the user and an allergen included within the first set of allergens, the second set of allergens, or both, based at least in part on a first comparison between the first set of allergens and the second set of allergens, and a second comparison between the one or more relationships and the one or more additional relationships.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the instruction is further configured to cause the wearable device, the user device, or both, to display one or more insights for mitigating an effect of the one or more allergens on the user, wherein the one or more insights comprise: a recommended maximum time that the user spends outdoors, a recommended exercise routine, a recommendation to stay indoors, a recommendation to wear personal protective equipment while outdoors, or any combination thereof.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the environmental data, the additional environmental data, or both, is further associated with one or more airborne impurities, wherein the one or more relationships are further based on the respiratory rate of the user and the one or more airborne impurities, wherein the one or more airborne impurities comprise dust, pollution, smoke, smog, or any combination thereof.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein, to identify the one or more relationships, the one or more processors are configured to:

determine a threshold quantity, a threshold concentration, or both, of the one or more allergens that induces a change in the respiratory rate of the user that satisfies a threshold change based at least in part on the baseline PPG data and the environmental data, wherein the instruction to display the alert is based at least in part on the additional environmental data comprising the threshold quantity, the threshold concentration, or both, of the one or more allergens.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

receive, from the wearable device, the user device, or both, a user input indicating at least one allergen to be tracked by the system; and

identify that a quantity, a concentration, or both, of the at least one allergen within the additional environmental data satisfies a threshold quantity, a threshold concentration, or both, wherein the instruction to display the alert is based at least in part on identifying that the quantity, the concentration, or both, of the at least one allergen satisfies the threshold quantity, the threshold concentration, or both.

10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

receive calendar data, travel data, or both, associated with the user; and

determine that the user will travel to the second geographical location during the second time interval based at least in part on the calendar data, the travel data, or both, wherein receiving the additional environmental data associated with the second geographical location is based at least in part on determining that the user will travel to the second geographical location.

11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the additional environmental data, the additional environmental data, or both, data is collected via one or more applications executable on the wearable device, the user device, or both.

12 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the wearable device comprises a wearable ring device.

13 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the wearable device comprises a wrist-worn wearable device.

14 . A method, comprising:

acquiring, via a wearable device, baseline photoplethysmogram (PPG) data measured from a user by the wearable device during a first time interval, the baseline PPG data associated with a respiratory rate of the user throughout the first time interval, wherein the baseline PPG data is acquired using one or more light-emitting components and one or more light-receiving components of the wearable device;

receiving environmental data associated with one or more allergens present in a first geographical location of the user during the first time interval;

identifying one or more relationships between the respiratory rate of the user and the one or more allergens based at least in part on the baseline PPG data and the environmental data;

receiving additional environmental data associated with the one or more allergens present in a second geographical location of the user during a second time interval that is subsequent to the first time interval; and

transmitting an instruction configured to cause the wearable device, a user device, or both, to display an alert associated with the one or more allergens based at least in part on the one or more relationships and the additional environmental data.

15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

transmitting a second instruction to one or more external devices that are configured to control or adjust one or more characteristics of a surrounding environment associated with the user, wherein the second instruction is configured to cause the one or more external devices to modify one or more characteristics of the surrounding environment of the user based at least in part on the additional environmental data and the one or more relationships between the respiratory rate of the user and the one or more allergens.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the one or more external devices comprise an air filter configured to reduce or control a quantity of the one or more allergens in the surrounding environment of the user.

17 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

calculating an allergen score associated with the user based at least in part on the one or more relationships and the additional environmental data, wherein the allergen score is associated with a relative susceptibility, a relative response severity, or both, of the user to the one or more allergens present in the second geographical location, and wherein the instruction is configured to cause the wearable device, the user device, or both, to display an indication of the allergen score.

18 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the one or more allergens comprise a first set of allergens, wherein the method further comprises:

receiving additional PPG data measured from the user by the wearable device during an additional time interval, the additional PPG data associated with the respiratory rate of the user throughout the additional time interval;

receiving third environmental data associated with a second set of allergens present during the additional time interval, wherein the second set of allergens is different from the first set of allergens;

identifying one or more additional relationships between the respiratory rate of the user and the second set of allergens based at least in part on the additional PPG data and the third environmental data; and

identifying an allergen-specific relationship between the respiratory rate of the user and an allergen included within the first set of allergens, the second set of allergens, or both, based at least in part on a first comparison between the first set of allergens and the second set of allergens, and a second comparison between the one or more relationships and the one or more additional relationships.

The method of claim 14 , wherein the instruction is further configured to cause the wearable device, the user device, or both, to display one or more insights for mitigating an effect of the one or more allergens on the user, wherein the one or more insights comprise: a recommended maximum time that the user spends outdoors, a recommended exercise routine, a recommendation to stay indoors, a recommendation to wear personal protective equipment while outdoors, or any combination thereof.

The method of claim 14 , wherein the environmental data, the additional environmental data, or both, is further associated with one or more airborne impurities, wherein the one or more relationships are further based on the respiratory rate of the user and the one or more airborne impurities, wherein the one or more airborne impurities comprise dust, pollution, smoke, smog, or any combination thereof.
