Abstract

A vehicle routing system and method involves coordinating a route for a vehicle to a geographic point of interest based at least in part on monitoring an action of a rider of a vehicle to determine if the action is among a plurality of actions classified as a rewardable action, and presenting a reward-based routing to the vehicle within a transportation system upon detection that the action of the rider is a rewardable action.

Claims (27)

1 . A method for coordinating a route for a vehicle in a transportation system, the method comprising:

monitoring an action of a rider of the vehicle;

classifying the action as a rewardable action of a plurality of actions;

coordinating the route for the vehicle to a geographic point of interest; and

presenting, for the rider, a reward-based routing alternative to the route in response to classifying the action as the rewardable action.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein monitoring the action of the rider includes capturing rider interactions with an electronic commerce system interface deployed via a smart phone accessible to the rider within the vehicle.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising providing in-vehicle-relevant content to the electronic commerce system interface based on an identity of the rider, a current route of the vehicle, and a mood of the rider.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein classifying of the action as the rewardable action includes utilizing a first neural network trained to recognize aspects of the action that correlate to the rewardable action.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein coordinating of the route for the vehicle includes optimizing at least one operating parameter of the vehicle in response to the rewardable action using a second neural network.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the at least one operating parameter of the vehicle that is optimized affects a speed, an acceleration, a deceleration, or a proximity to other vehicles along the route.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein optimizing the at least one operating parameter includes selecting a vehicle performance mode as one of an aggressive performance mode and a non-aggressive performance mode.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein presenting of the reward-based routing alternative includes providing the rider with one or more search query results adapted for presentation in the vehicle, the one or more search query results including information regarding the geographic point of interest.

The method of claim 8 , wherein the one or more search query results include audio or video information regarding the geographic point of interest, the information being adapted to account for visibility of the geographic point of interest to the rider based on a location of the rider in the vehicle, the location, speed, and direction of the vehicle, a likelihood of encountering visually obscuring traffic or objects along the route, and visibility-related weather conditions.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein presenting the reward-based routing alternative includes proposing a traffic lane that increases visibility of the geographic point of interest to reduce rider frustration and enhance a likelihood of the rider selecting the reward-based routing alternative.

11 . A vehicle routing system, comprising:

a monitoring system configured to monitor an action of a rider of a vehicle and determine if the action is among a plurality of actions classified as a rewardable action;

a routing system configured to coordinate a route for the vehicle to a geographic point of interest; and

a reward-based routing system configured to present a reward-based routing to the vehicle within a transportation system upon detection that the action of the rider is a rewardable action.

12 . The vehicle routing system of claim 11 , wherein the monitoring system captures rider interactions with an electronic commerce system interface deployed via a smart phone accessible to the rider within the vehicle.

13 . The vehicle routing system of claim 12 , wherein the electronic commerce system interface provides in-vehicle-relevant content based on an identity of the rider, a current route of the vehicle, and a mood of the rider.

14 . The vehicle routing system of claim 13 , wherein the reward-based routing system is further configured to adapt the reward-based routing based on the in-vehicle-relevant content presented to the rider through the electronic commerce system interface.

15 . The vehicle routing system of claim 14 , wherein the reward-based routing system includes an artificial intelligence system comprising a first neural network trained to classify a rider state based on analysis of the rider interactions with the electronic commerce system interface.

The vehicle routing system of claim 15 , wherein the artificial intelligence system further comprises a second neural network that, in response to the classified rider state, is configured to optimize at least one operating parameter of the vehicle affecting the route of the vehicle, the at least one operating parameter being optimized including at least one of: a speed of the vehicle, an acceleration of the vehicle, a deceleration of the vehicle, or a proximity to other vehicles along the route.

17 . The vehicle routing system of claim 16 , wherein the at least one operating parameter of the vehicle includes a vehicle performance mode that is one of an aggressive performance mode and a non-aggressive performance mode.

The vehicle routing system of claim 11 , wherein the reward-based routing system is further configured to provide the rider with one or more search query results adapted for presentation in the vehicle, the one or more search query results including information regarding the geographic point of interest.

The vehicle routing system of claim 18 , wherein the one or more search query results include audio or video information regarding the geographic point of interest, the information being adapted to account for visibility of the geographic point of interest to the rider based on a location of the rider in the vehicle, the location, speed, and direction of the vehicle, a likelihood of encountering visually obscuring traffic or objects along the route, and visibility-related weather conditions.

20 . The vehicle routing system of claim 19 , wherein the routing system is further configured to select a traffic lane that increases visibility of the geographic point of interest to reduce rider frustration and enhance a likelihood of the rider selecting the reward-based routing.
