BIOMETRIC, PHYSIOLOGICAL OR ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING USING A CLOSED CHAMBER
A wearable device may be worn in an ear of a user. The wearable device may include a biometric sensor that collects biometric information from the ear, and an environmental sensor that collects environmental information from the ear. The wearable device may receive the biometric information from the biometric sensor, and the environmental information from the environmental sensor, and send biofeedback determined from the biometric information, and an environmental condition determined from the environmental information, wirelessly to a communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.
1 . A wearable device worn in an ear of a user, comprising:
a biometric sensor that collects biometric information from the ear of the user;
an environmental sensor that collects environmental information from the ear; and
one or more processors configured to:
receive the biometric information from the biometric sensor;
receive the environmental information from the environmental sensor; and
send biofeedback determined from the biometric information, and an environmental condition determined from the environmental information, wirelessly to a communication device.
2 . The wearable device of claim 1 , wherein the biometric sensor comprises an ear canal microphone that detects an acoustic signature of the user, and wherein the environmental sensor comprises an ambient microphone that detects noise in an environment of the user.
3 . The wearable device of claim 1 , wherein the biometric information includes an acoustic signature of at least one of chewing, swallowing, or breathing of the user.
4 . The wearable device of claim 1 , wherein the biometric information includes at least one of heart rate, blood pressure, or temperature of the user.
5 . The wearable device of claim 1 , wherein the environmental information includes a sound pressure level of at least one of a voice of the user or ambient noise in an environment of the user.
6 . The wearable device of claim 1 , wherein the biofeedback enables authentication of the user based on a multimodal profile.
7 . The wearable device of claim 1 , wherein the wearable device includes a gesture control sensor that detects a gesture of the user.
8 . The wearable device of claim 1 , wherein the wearable device includes a fingerprint sensor that detects a fingerprint of the user.
9 . A method, comprising:
receiving biofeedback determined from biometric information collected from a biometric sensor of a wearable device worn in an ear of a user;
receiving an environmental condition determined from environmental information collected from an environmental sensor of the wearable device;
determining a multimodal profile of the user; and
authenticating the user based on the biofeedback and the environmental condition correlating with the multimodal profile.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein authenticating the user includes utilizing the biofeedback or the environmental condition to confirm that the user fits the multimodal profile to within a predetermined threshold.
11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein authenticating the user includes determining a resting heart rate of the user is within a given range for a given amount of detected motion.
12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein authenticating the user includes determining a sound pressure level of at least one of a voice of the user or ambient noise in an environment of the user is within a given range.
13 . The method of claim 9 , wherein authenticating the user enables a payment system to perform a mobile commerce transaction with the wearable device.
14 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:
controlling a system, via the wearable device, based on authenticating the user.
15 . A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions operable to cause one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
receiving biometric information collected from a biometric sensor of a wearable device worn in an ear of a user;
receiving environmental information collected from an environmental sensor of the wearable device; and
controlling a system, via the wearable device, based on biofeedback determined from the biometric information and an environmental condition determined from the environmental information.
16 . The non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions of claim 15 ,
wherein controlling the system includes retrieving search results.
17 . The non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions of claim 15 ,
wherein controlling the system includes performing a mobile commerce transaction.
18 . The non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions of claim 15 ,
wherein controlling the system includes sending a command to at least one of turn on a light or open a garage door.
19 . The non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions of claim 15 , the operations further comprising:
correlating a voice of the user, picked up by the environmental sensor, with bone conduction of the user picked up by the biometric sensor.
20 . The non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions of claim 15 , the operations further comprising:
authenticating the user, before controlling the system, based on the biofeedback and the environmental condition correlating with a multimodal profile.
