Abstract

A portable cooler container with active temperature control includes a double-walled insulated container body with a chamber to receive and hold temperature sensitive products. A control system is at least partially disposed between an outer wall and an inner wall of the container body. An electronic display screen on one of the lid and the container body configured to display shipping address information for the portable cooler container.

Claims (36)

1 . (canceled)

2 . A powered portable cooler container, comprising:

a container body including an outer wall and an inner wall spaced from the outer wall to define a gap therebetween, the gap filled with an insulative material, the container body having a chamber defined at least partially by the inner wall, the container body having one or more air intake vents and one or more air exhaust vents via which air flows into a cavity that is spaced from the chamber;

a lid selectively operable to close or access the chamber; and

a temperature control system disposed in the container body between the outer wall and the inner wall, the temperature control system comprising:

one or more thermoelectric elements in thermal communication with the chamber, one side of the one or more thermoelectric elements being in thermal communication with the inner wall and are operable to actively heat or cool the chamber,

a heat sink in thermal communication with an opposite side of the one or more thermoelectric elements, the heat sink being cooled by said air that flows into the cavity,

circuitry configured to control an operation of the one or more thermoelectric elements to heat or cool at least a portion of the chamber, and

one or more temperature sensors configured to sense a temperature in the chamber, the one or more temperature sensors configured to communicate with the circuitry.

3 . The powered portable cooler of claim 2 , wherein the insulative material is foam.

4 . The powered portable cooler of claim 2 , wherein the insulative material is air.

5 . The powered portable cooler container of claim 2 , wherein the circuitry further comprises a transmitter configured to transmit temperature information from the one or more temperature sensors to a cloud-based data storage system or a remote electronic device.

6 . The powered portable cooler container of claim 2 , further comprising an electronic display screen on one of the container body and the lid.

7 . The powered portable cooler container of claim 6 , wherein the electronic display screen is configured to display temperature information from the one or more temperature sensors.

8 . The powered portable cooler container of claim 6 , wherein the electronic display screen includes a graphical user interface configured to receive input from a user to adjust a temperature preset for the chamber.

9 . The powered portable cooler of claim 2 , further comprising one or more batteries configured to supply power to the circuitry.

10 . The powered portable cooler of claim 7 , wherein the one or more batteries are further configured to supply power to the one or more thermoelectric elements.

11 . The powered portable cooler of claim 2 , wherein the one or more air intake vents and the one or more air exhaust vents are formed in the outer wall.

12 . A powered portable cooler container, comprising:

a container body including an outer wall and an inner wall spaced from the outer wall to define a gap therebetween, the gap filled with an insulative material, the container body having a chamber defined at least partially by the inner wall, the container body having one or more air intake vents and one or more air exhaust vents via which air flows into a cavity that is spaced from the chamber;

a lid selectively operable to close or access the chamber; and

a temperature control system disposed in the container body between the outer wall and the inner wall, the temperature control system comprising:

one or more thermoelectric elements in thermal communication with the chamber, one side of the one or more thermoelectric elements being in thermal communication with the inner wall and are operable to actively heat or cool the chamber,

a heat sink in thermal communication with an opposite side of the one or more thermoelectric elements,

a fan operable to draw air from outside the container body into the cavity via the one or more air intake vents, to flow said air past the heat sink to cool the heat sink, and to flow said air out of the cavity via the one or more air exhaust vents,

circuitry configured to control an operation of the one or more thermoelectric elements and fan to heat or cool at least a portion of the chamber, and

one or more temperature sensors configured to sense a temperature in the chamber, the one or more temperature sensors configured to communicate with the circuitry.

13 . The powered portable cooler of claim 12 , wherein the insulative material is foam.

14 . The powered portable cooler of claim 12 , wherein the insulative material is air.

15 . The powered portable cooler container of claim 12 , wherein the circuitry further comprises a transmitter configured to transmit temperature information from the one or more temperature sensors to a cloud-based data storage system or a remote electronic device.

16 . The powered portable cooler container of claim 12 , further comprising an electronic display screen on one of the container body and the lid.

17 . The powered portable cooler container of claim 16 , wherein the electronic display screen is configured to display temperature information from the one or more temperature sensors.

18 . The powered portable cooler container of claim 16 , wherein the electronic display screen includes a graphical user interface configured to receive input from a user to adjust a temperature preset for the chamber.

19 . The powered portable cooler of claim 12 , further comprising one or more batteries configured to supply power to the circuitry.

20 . The powered portable cooler of claim 17 , wherein the one or more batteries are further configured to supply power to the one or more thermoelectric elements.

21 . The powered portable cooler of claim 12 , wherein the one or more air intake vents and the one or more air exhaust vents are formed in the outer wall.
