Abstract

An implantable physiological monitor is provided. The implantable physiological monitor includes a transceiver configured to wirelessly interface with an external device and a housing having a plurality of electrodes. The plurality of electrodes is configured to record an electrocardiography signal and an electrode configuration of the plurality of electrodes can be configured after implanting the implantable physiological monitor.

Claims (33)

1 : An implantable physiological monitor, comprising:

a transceiver configured to wirelessly interface with an external device; and

a housing having a plurality of electrodes, wherein the plurality of electrodes is configured to record an electrocardiography signal, and

wherein an electrode configuration of the plurality of electrodes can be configured after implanting the implantable physiological monitor.

2 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 1 , wherein the housing comprises a distal end and a proximal end, wherein the distal end is opposite the proximal end, and wherein the plurality of electrodes comprises:

a first ventral electrode disposed on the distal end of the housing;

a second ventral electrode disposed on the proximal end of the housing;

a first wraparound electrode disposed on the distal end of the housing; and

a second wraparound electrode disposed on the proximal end of the housing.

3 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 2 , wherein the first ventral electrode can be paired to the first wraparound electrode, and the second ventral electrode can be paired to the second wraparound electrode in the electrode configuration.

4 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 2 , wherein the first wraparound electrode can be paired to the second wraparound electrode, and the first ventral electrode can be paired to the second ventral electrode in the electrode configuration.

5 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 2 , wherein the first wraparound electrode can be paired to the second ventral electrode, and the first ventral electrode can be paired to the second wraparound electrode in the electrode configuration.

6 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 2 , wherein the first wraparound electrode can be logically combined with the first ventral electrode to form a single virtual electrode.

7 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 1 , wherein configuring the electrode configuration varies a surface area of at least one of the plurality of electrodes.

8 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 1 , wherein configuring the electrode configuration varies an inter-electrode spacing between at least two of the plurality of electrodes.

9 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 2 , wherein the housing further comprises a third ventral electrode and a fourth ventral electrode, wherein the third ventral electrode and the fourth ventral electrode are paired together in the electrode configuration.

10 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 1 , wherein the electrode configuration of the plurality of electrodes is configured via the external device.

11 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 1 , the external device is a mobile device.

12 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 1 , wherein a sub-plurality of the plurality of electrodes can be deactivated after implanting the implantable physiological monitor.

13 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 1 , wherein the electrode configuration of the plurality of electrodes can be configured after implanting the implantable physiological monitor to increase P-wave resolution of the electrocardiography signal.

14 : An implantable physiological monitor, comprising:

a transceiver configured to wirelessly interface with an external device; and

a housing having an electrode to record an electrocardiography signal, wherein the electrode is configured after implanting the implantable physiological monitor.

15 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 14 , wherein the electrode includes a first half-circle electrode and a second half-circle electrode, wherein the first half-circle electrode and the second half-circle electrode are combined in a first electrode configuration, and the first half-circle electrode and the second half-circle electrode are bi-furcated in a second electrode configuration.

16 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 14 , wherein the electrode is configured via the external device.

17 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 16 , wherein the external device is a mobile device.

18 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 16 further comprising:

an ECG front end circuit configured to measure electrical signals;

a battery disposed within the housing;

a microcontroller electronically coupled to the battery, wherein the microcontroller connects to the ECG front end circuit; and

a memory for storing samples of the electrical signals.

19 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 18 , wherein the transceiver wirelessly interfaces with the memory.

20 : The implantable physiological monitor of claim 18 further comprising an accelerometer configure to collect data on a position of the implantable physiological monitor.
