Abstract

A glazing includes a first substrate and a heatable coating formed on the first substrate, the heatable coating includes at least one heatable layer and at least one deletion, and multiple busbars for supplying power to the heatable coating are positioned on the heatable coating remote from the at least one deletion.

Claims (31)

1. A glazing, comprising:

a first substrate; and

a heatable coating formed on the first substrate, the heatable coating including:

at least one heatable layer, and

at least one deletion;

wherein multiple busbars for supplying power to the heatable coating are positioned on the heatable coating and wherein the busbars are positioned on left and right sides of the glazing or top and bottom sides of the glazing, the multiple busbars being remote from the at least one deletion.

2. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the first substrate is a first glass substrate.

3. The glazing according to claim 2 , wherein the first glass substrate is laminated to a second glass substrate with an interlayer between the first glass substrate and the second glass substrate.

4. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the deletion extends in any of a rectangular shape, square shape, triangular shape, wedge-shape, circular shape, oval shape, U-shape, V-shape, or W-shape.

5. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one deletion is in an area for a wiper park.

6. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one deletion is in an area surrounding an information acquisition area.

7. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one deletion is formed in an information acquisition area.

8. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the deletion is formed in a region at which black print is provided.

9. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the heatable layer includes silver.

10. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the heatable layer includes a transparent conductive oxide.

11. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one deletion is an opening in the heatable coating to interrupt any electric current flowing through the heatable coating.

12. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the deletion extends in a parallel direction to a shortest line connection two busbars.

13. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the first substrate is a film substrate, wherein the film substrate is laminated between a first glass substrate and a second glass substrate.

14. The glazing according to claim 13 , wherein the film substrate is formed of polyethylene terephthalate.

15. The glazing according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one deletion at least substantially encloses a non-deleted portion of the heatable coating.

16. A method of providing a glazing with a heatable coating, the method comprising:

providing a first substrate formed with a heatable coating thereon;

deleting a heatable layer in the heatable coating to provide a deletion; and

positioning multiple busbars for supplying power to the heatable coating on the heatable coating, wherein the busbars are positioned on left and right sides of the glazing or top and bottom sides of the glazing, the multiple busbars being remote from the deletion.

17. The method according to claim 16 , wherein deleting the portion of the heatable layer comprises applying a laser to the heatable coating.

18. The method according to claim 16 , wherein the deletion extends in any of a rectangular shape, square shape, triangular shape, wedge-shape, circular shape, oval shape, U-shape, V-shape, or W-shape.

19. The method according to claim 16 , further comprising:

bending the first substrate with the heatable coating before the step of deleting; and

laminating the first substrate with a second substrate with an interlayer between the first and second substrates after the step of deleting.

20. The method according to claim 16 , further comprising:

bending the first substrate with the heatable coating before the step of deleting; and laminating the first substrate with a second substrate with an interlayer between the first and second substrates after the step of bending.
