Abstract

Systems and methods are described herein for controlling mobile devices with user equipment devices. A user equipment device may detect a mobile device is within a predetermined proximity to the user equipment device by establishing a bi-directional communication. The user equipment device may determine an input/output option of the mobile device. The input/output option may be a microphone, a cellular Internet connection, a camera, or any other sensor and/or actuator of the mobile device. The user equipment device may generate for display an icon corresponding to the input/output option of the mobile device.

Claims (44)

1 - 51 . (canceled)

52 . A method comprising:

establishing, using a first device, bi-directional communication with a second device;

determining a control option available on the second device;

generating, for display on the first device, a selectable option, wherein selection of the selectable option enables the first device to receive commands based on the control option on the second device;

receiving a selection of the selectable option;

receiving data from the second device, wherein the data corresponds to an input received at the second device corresponding to the control option, and wherein the input comprises detecting a motion of the second device; and

based on receiving the input from the second device corresponding to the control option, performing an operation at the first device that corresponds to the control option.

53 . The method of claim 52 , wherein the motion is a gesture.

54 . The method of claim 52 , wherein the motion is movement of the second device and is detected using an accelerometer or gyroscope of the second device.

55 . The method of claim 52 , wherein the motion is detected using a camera of the second device.

56 . The method of claim 52 , wherein the motion is detected using a LIDAR emitter-sensor of the second device.

57 . The method of claim 52 , further comprising:

detecting whether the second device is within a predetermined proximity of the first device;

determining the second device has a communication protocol compatible with the first device; and

based on determining that the second device is within the predetermined proximity of the first device, establishing the bi-directional communication between the first device and the second device using the communication protocol.

58 . The method of claim 52 , wherein determining the control option is available on the second device comprises:

requesting information associated with a type of the control option from the second device.

59 . The method of claim 52 , wherein the control option comprises an I/O option.

60 . The method of claim 59 , wherein the selectable option is an icon corresponding to the I/O option, and wherein the icon is selectable to extend a functionality to the first device otherwise unavailable without the second device.

61 . The method of claim 60 , wherein the icon indicates a type of the I/O option.

62 . A system comprising:

a communication port;

a memory storing instructions; and

control circuitry communicably coupled to the memory and the communication port and configured to execute instructions to:

establish, using a first device, bi-directional communication with a second device;

determine a control option available on the second device;

generate a selectable option on the first device, wherein selection of the selectable option enables the first device to receive commands from the control option on the second device;

receive a selection of the selectable option;

receive an input from the second device corresponding to the control option, wherein the input comprises detecting a motion of the second device; and

based on receiving the input from the second device corresponding to the control option, perform an operation at the first device that corresponds to the control option.

63 . The system of claim 62 , wherein the motion is a gesture.

64 . The system of claim 62 , wherein the motion is movement of the second device and is detected using an accelerometer or gyroscope of the second device.

65 . The system of claim 62 , wherein the motion is detected using a camera of the second device.

66 . The system of claim 62 , wherein the motion is detected using a LIDAR emitter-sensor of the second device.

67 . The system of claim 62 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

detecting whether the second device is within a predetermined proximity of the first device;

determining the second device has a communication protocol compatible with the first device; and

based on determining that the second device is within the predetermined proximity of the first device, establishing the bi-directional communication between the first device and the second device comprising the communication protocol.

68 . The system of claim 62 , wherein the control circuitry is configured, when determining the control option available on the second device, to:

request information associated a type of the control option from the second device.

69 . The system of claim 62 , wherein the control option comprises an I/O option.

70 . The system of claim 69 , wherein the selectable option is an icon corresponding to the I/O option, and wherein the icon is selectable to extend a functionality to the first device otherwise unavailable without the second device.

71 . The system of claim 70 , wherein the icon indicates a type of the I/O option.
