Abstract

A method for determining cardiac tissue health based on a depolarization wave within an EGM is disclosed. The method includes computing a first derivative with respect to time (DV/DT) of the EGM, determining extrema for the first derivative, establishing a value DV/DT MIN based on the extrema and mapping the value DV/DT MIN to cardiac tissue.

Claims (34)

1 .- 15 . (canceled)

16 . A method for determining cardiac tissue health based on a depolarization wave within an electrogram (EGM), comprising:

measuring the EGM as a voltage signal using one or more catheters;

computing a derivative signal as a first derivative of the EGM with respect to time (DV/DT);

establishing a value DV/DT MIN as a minimum value of the derivative signal; and

mapping the value DV/DT MIN to cardiac tissue.

17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising determining extrema for the derivative signal after computing the derivative signal.

18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the EGM comprises a bipolar electrogram, wherein establishing the value DV/DT MIN comprises selecting one of a maxima and a minima of DV/DT as the value for DV/DT MIN based on a ratio of DV/DT MIN to DV/DT MAX .

19 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising receiving electrophysiological data using a sensory array comprising one or more electrodes.

20 . The method of claim 19 , further comprising generating electrical measurement data based on the received electrophysiological data using a corresponding measurement system.

21 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the one or more catheters comprises one or more electrodes located at a tip of an ablation catheter.

22 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising receiving geometry data tracking positions of the one or more catheters within a heart cavity using a geometry sensor.

23 . The method of claim 16 , wherein mapping the value DV/DT MIN to cardiac tissue further comprises using a mapping system configured to combine electrical measurement data, geometry data, and the value DV/DT MIN to render various metrics associated with a heart in a visual form.

24 . A system for determining cardiac tissue health based on a depolarization wave within an electrogram (EGM), comprising:

a signal acquisition module to measure the EGM as a voltage signal using one or more catheters;

one or more processors coupled to a memory programmed with executable instructions to:

compute a derivative signal as a first derivative of the EGM with respect to time (DV/DT);

establish a value DV/DT MIN as a minimum value of the derivative signal; and

map the value DV/DT MIN to cardiac tissue.

25 . The system of claim 24 , further comprising determining extrema for the derivative signal after computing the derivative signal.

26 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the EGM comprises a bipolar electrogram, wherein establishing the value DV/DT MIN comprises selecting one of a maxima and a minima of DV/DT as the value for DV/DT MIN based on a ratio of DV/DT MIN to DV/DT MAX .

27 . The system of claim 24 , further comprising receiving electrophysiological data using a sensory array comprising one or more electrodes.

28 . The system of claim 27 , further comprising generating electrical measurement data based on the received electrophysiological data using a corresponding measurement system.

29 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the one or more catheters comprises one or more electrodes located at a tip of an ablation catheter.

30 . The system of claim 24 , further comprising receiving geometry data tracking positions of the one or more catheters within a heart cavity using a geometry sensor.

31 . The system of claim 24 , wherein mapping the value DV/DT MIN to cardiac tissue further comprises using a mapping system configured to combine electrical measurement data, geometry data, and the value DV/DT MIN to render various metrics associated with a heart in a visual form.

32 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium, having stored thereon, a set of computer-executable instructions that causes a computer to perform a method comprising:

measuring an electrogram (EGM) as a voltage signal using one or more catheters;

computing a derivative signal as a first derivative of the EGM with respect to time (DV/DT);

establishing a value DV/DT MIN as a minimum value of the derivative signal; and

mapping the value DV/DT MIN to cardiac tissue.

33 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 32 , wherein the EGM comprises a bipolar electrogram, wherein establishing the value DV/DT MIN comprises selecting one of a maxima and a minima of DV/DT as the value for DV/DT MIN based on a ratio of DV/DT MIN to DV/DT MAX .

34 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 32 , wherein establishing the value DV/DT MIN as the minimum value of the derivative signal is based on extrema of the derivative signal.
