Abstract

Systems and methods are provided herein for supplying localized weather information to a user. This may be accomplished by a system receiving a request to generate a weather report for a location. The system may identify weather information sources within a threshold distance of the location, wherein one or more of the weather information sources is a mobile weather information source. The device may generate a weather report for the location based on the weather information received from the weather information sources.

Claims (84)

1. A method comprising:

receiving a first event associated with a user profile, wherein the first event corresponds to a first location and a first time period;

receiving a first plurality of data points corresponding to a second time period, wherein each data point of the first plurality of datapoints corresponds to at least one weather information source of a plurality of weather information sources;

generating a first weather report associated with the second time period for the first location, wherein:

the first plurality of data points are used to generate the first weather report; and

the first weather report comprises a first weather condition;

receiving a second plurality of data points corresponding to a third time period, wherein:

each data point of the second plurality of datapoints corresponds to at least one weather information source of the plurality of weather information sources; and

the third time period is after the second time period;

generating a second weather report associated with the second time period for the first location, wherein:

the second plurality of data points are used to generate the second weather report; and

the second weather report comprises a second weather condition;

determining a weather change at the first location based on a difference between the first weather condition of the first weather report and the second weather condition of the second weather report; and

in response to determining the weather change at the first location, generating for display a notification on a device associated with the user profile, wherein the notification indicates the weather change.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first weather condition is a first temperature and the second weather condition is a second temperature lower than the first temperature.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first weather condition is a first temperature and the second weather condition is a second temperature higher than the first temperature.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the first weather condition is a first temperature;

the second weather condition is a second temperature; and

the second temperature exceeds a threshold.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first weather condition corresponds to no rain and the second weather condition corresponds to rain.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the notification suggests rescheduling the first event.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining a characteristic associated with the first event; and

determining that the second weather condition is not suitable for the first event based on the characteristic associated with the first event.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a trigger related to the first event;

determining that the second weather condition satisfies the trigger related to the first event; and

generating for display the notification is caused, at least in part, based on determining that the second weather condition satisfies the trigger related to the first event.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a weather forecast related to the first location, wherein:

the weather forecaster comprises a third weather condition at a fourth time period; and;

the fourth time period is after the first time period; and

in response to determining the weather change at the first location, generating for display the notification on the device associated with the user profile, wherein the notification indicates the weather change and recommends rescheduling the first event to the fourth time period.

10. An apparatus comprising:

control circuitry; and

at least one memory including computer program code for one or more programs, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the control circuitry, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following:

receive a first event associated with a user profile, wherein the first event corresponds to a first location and a first time period;

receive a first plurality of data points corresponding to a second time period, wherein each data point of the first plurality of datapoints corresponds to at least one weather information source of a plurality of weather information sources;

generate a first weather report associated with the second time period for the first location, wherein:

the first plurality of data points are used to generate the first weather report; and

the first weather report comprises a first weather condition;

receive a second plurality of data points corresponding to a third time period, wherein:

each data point of the second plurality of datapoints corresponds to at least one weather information source of the plurality of weather information sources; and

the third time period is after the second time period;

generate a second weather report associated with the second time period for the first location, wherein:

the second plurality of data points are used to generate the second weather report; and

the second weather report comprises a second weather condition;

determine a weather change at the first location based on a difference between the first weather condition of the first weather report and the second weather condition of the second weather report; and

in response to determining the weather change at the first location, generate for display a notification on a device associated with the user profile, wherein the notification indicates the weather change.

11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the first weather condition is a first temperature and the second weather condition is a second temperature lower than the first temperature.

12. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the first weather condition is a first temperature and the second weather condition is a second temperature higher than the first temperature.

13. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein:

the first weather condition is a first temperature;

the second weather condition is a second temperature; and

the second temperature exceeds a threshold.

14. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the first weather condition corresponds to no rain and the second weather condition corresponds to rain.

15. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the notification suggests rescheduling the first event.

16. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

determine a characteristic associated with the first event; and

determine that the second weather condition is not suitable for the first event based on the characteristic associated with the first event.

17. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

receive a trigger related to the first event;

determine that the second weather condition satisfies the trigger related to the first event; and

generate for display the notification is caused, at least in part, based on determining that the second weather condition satisfies the trigger related to the first event.

18. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

receive a weather forecast related to the first location, wherein:

the weather forecaster comprises a third weather condition at a fourth time period; and;

the fourth time period is after the first time period; and

in response to determining the weather change at the first location, generate for display the notification on the device associated with the user profile, wherein the notification indicates the weather change and recommends rescheduling the first event to the fourth time period.

19. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions encoded thereon that, when executed by control circuitry, cause the control circuitry to:

receive a first event associated with a user profile, wherein the first event corresponds to a first location and a first time period;

receive a first plurality of data points corresponding to a second time period, wherein each data point of the first plurality of datapoints corresponds to at least one weather information source of a plurality of weather information sources;

generate a first weather report associated with the second time period for the first location, wherein:

the first plurality of data points are used to generate the first weather report; and

the first weather report comprises a first weather condition;

receive a second plurality of data points corresponding to a third time period, wherein:

each data point of the second plurality of datapoints corresponds to at least one weather information source of the plurality of weather information sources; and

the third time period is after the second time period;

generate a second weather report associated with the second time period for the first location, wherein:

the second plurality of data points are used to generate the second weather report; and

the second weather report comprises a second weather condition;

determine a weather change at the first location based on a difference between the first weather condition of the first weather report and the second weather condition of the second weather report; and

in response to determining the weather change at the first location, generate for display a notification on a device associated with the user profile, wherein the notification indicates the weather change.
