Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for processing multi-dimensional orders. A data transaction request message is received at a data transaction system. The data transaction request message includes data representative of at least a first function for a first attribute of a commodity and a second function for a second attribute of the commodity. The data transaction system identifies a set of solutions described by the first function and the second function. The set of solutions including values for different variations of the object that the participant who submitted the data transaction request message is willing to offer or receive for the respective variation. The data transaction system attempts to match one or more of the values from the set of solutions to previously received but unsatisfied electronic data transaction request messages counter thereto stored in an order book data structure.

Claims (59)

1. A computer implemented method comprising:

receiving, by a processor, a first input from a user via a graphical user interface, the first input including data indicative of a plurality of attribute values for a non-standard commodity, wherein the plurality of attribute values do not include price;

generating, by the processor, price curve graphs for the plurality of attribute values based on the first input by the user;

displaying, by the processor in the graphical user interface, the price curve graphs for the plurality of attribute values;

displaying, by the processor in the graphical user interface, a graphical aggregation data object describing a price frontier graph based on the price curve graphs, the graphical aggregation data object representative of a plurality of possible combinations of the plurality of attribute values;

displaying, by the processor in the graphical user interface, a price-variable table translating the price frontier graph to a data set;

displaying, by the processor in the graphical user interface, a formula field indicative of a function for the non-standard commodity based on the first input by the user;

enabling, by the processor, the user to interact with the graphical user interface and adjust the price curve graphs, the price-variable table, or the formula field to update the plurality of attribute values via a second input, wherein the price curve graphs, the price-variable table, and the formula field are linked to each other;

enabling, by the processor, the user to accept the second input including the updated plurality of attribute values;

transforming, by the processor, in response to the user accepting the second input, the accepted second input to an electronic multi-dimensional data transaction request message; and

transmitting, by the processor, the electronic multi-dimensional data transaction request message to a data transaction processing system.

2. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

displaying, by the processor, in the graphical user interface, a market for the non-standard commodity.

3. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

providing, by the data transaction processing system, a specification defining the possible combinations of the plurality of attribute values.

4. The computer implemented method of claim 3 , wherein the specification further describes a plurality of ranges for the plurality of attribute values.

5. The computer implemented method of claim 3 , wherein the specification defines step values, minimums, and maximums for the plurality of attribute values.

6. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the curve graphs include data relating to a market data feed provided by the data transaction processing system.

7. The computer implemented method of claim 6 , wherein the market data feed comprises a fitted curve.

8. The computer implemented method of claim 6 , wherein the first input and the second input relate to user defined premiums for the plurality of attribute values.

9. The computer implemented method of claim 6 , wherein the first input and second input are input into the price-variable table that is used to generate the price curve graphs.

10. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the electronic multi-dimensional data transaction request message uses a format defined by the data transaction processing system.

11. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the user defines step values, minimums, and maximums for the plurality of attribute values.

12. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of attribute values define one or more of a composition of the non-standard commodity, delivery dates, delivery ports, or contract terms.

13. A computer system comprising:

a processor coupled with a data transaction processing system via a network; and

a non-transitory computer-readable medium coupled with the processor, the non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions executable by the computer system to cause the processor to:

receive a first input from a user via a graphical user interface, the first input including data indicative of a plurality of attribute values for a non-standard commodity, wherein the plurality of attribute values do not include price;

generate price curve graphs for the plurality of attribute values based on the first input by the user;

display, in the graphical user interface, the price curve graphs for the plurality of attribute values;

display, in the graphical user interface, a graphical aggregation data object describing a price frontier graph based on the price curve graphs, the graphical aggregation data object representative of a plurality of possible combinations of the plurality of attribute values;

display, in the graphical user interface, a price-variable table translating the price frontier graph to a data set;

display, in the graphical user interface, a formula field indicative of a function for the non-standard commodity based on the first input by the user;

enable the user to interact with the graphical user interface and adjust the price curve graphs, the price-variable table, or the formula field to update the plurality of attribute values via a second input, wherein the price curve graphs, the price-variable table, and the formula field are linked to each other;

enable the user to accept the second input including the updated plurality of attribute values;

transform, in response to the user accepting the second input, the accepted second input to an electronic multi-dimensional data transaction request message; and

transmit the electronic multi-dimensional data transaction request message to a data transaction processing system.

14. The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the computer-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium further cause the processor to display a market for the non-standard commodity in the graphical user interface.

15. The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the data transaction processing system is configured to provide a specification defining the possible combinations of the plurality of attribute values.

16. The computer system of claim 15 , wherein the specification further describes a plurality of ranges for the plurality of attribute values.

17. The computer system of claim 15 , wherein the specification defines step values, minimums, and maximums for the plurality of attribute values.

18. The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the curve graphs include data relating to a market data feed provided by the data transaction processing system.

19. The computer system of claim 18 , wherein the market data feed comprises a fitted curve.

20. The computer system of claim 18 , wherein the first input and the second input relate to user defined premiums for the plurality of attribute values.

21. The computer system of claim 18 , wherein the first input and second input are input into the price-variable table that is used to generate the price curve graphs.

22. The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the electronic multi-dimensional data transaction request message uses a format defined by the data transaction processing system.

23. The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the user defines step values, minimums, and maximums for the plurality of attribute values.

24. The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the plurality of attribute values define one or more of a composition of the non-standard commodity, delivery dates, delivery ports, or contract terms.

25. A computer system comprising:

means for receiving a first input from a user via a graphical user interface, the first input including data indicative of a plurality of attribute values for a non-standard commodity, wherein the plurality of attribute values do not include price;

means for generating price curve graphs for the plurality of attribute values based on the first input by the user;

means for displaying, in the graphical user interface, the price curve graphs for the plurality of attribute values;

means for displaying, in the graphical user interface, a graphical aggregation data object describing a price frontier graph based on the price curve graphs, the graphical aggregation data object representative of a plurality of possible combinations of the plurality of attribute values;

means for displaying, in the graphical user interface, a price-variable table translating the price frontier graph to a data set;

means for displaying, in the graphical user interface, a formula field indicative of a function for the non-standard commodity based on the first input by the user;

means for enabling, the user to interact with the graphical user interface and adjust the price curve graphs, the price-variable table, or the formula field to update the plurality of attribute values via a second input, wherein the price curve graphs, the price-variable table, and the formula field are linked to each other;

means for enabling, the user to accept the second input including the updated plurality of attribute values;

means for transforming, in response to the user accepting the second input, the accepted second input to an electronic multi-dimensional data transaction request message; and

means for transmitting the electronic multi-dimensional data transaction request message to a data transaction processing system.
