BROWSER ISOLATION
A method for securing browsing activity of a user using user equipment (UE) having a web browser, the method comprising: vetting data comprised in or associated with at least one or any combination of more than one of a user profile, the UE and/or web browser, and/or a set of website risk vulnerabilities that may affect cyber damage risk related to browsing; and based on the vetting determining: a type and degree of isolation to be provided for the UE; and a temporal configuration for monitoring browsing activity of the user.
1 . A method for securing browsing activity of a user using user equipment (UE) having a web browser, the method comprising:
vetting data comprised in or associated with at least one or any combination of more than one of a user profile, the UE, and/or web browser, and/or a set of website risk vulnerabilities that may affect cyber damage risk related to browsing; and
based on the vetting determining:
a type and degree of isolation to be provided for the UE; and
a temporal configuration for monitoring browsing activity of the user.
2 . The method according to claim 1 wherein determining a type of isolation comprises selecting a tab-by-tab isolation and/or a browser isolation.
3 . The method according to claim 2 wherein selecting browser isolation comprises selecting a virtualization technology sandbox isolation or a bare metal server isolation.
4 . The method according to claim 2 wherein selecting tab-by-tab isolation comprises nesting tab-by-tab isolation within browsing isolation.
5 . The method according to claim 1 wherein the isolation comprises operating system based (OS-based) isolation.
6 . The method according to claim 1 wherein determining a degree of isolation comprises selecting a number of isolation features to be included in the determined isolation type and severity of limitations that the selected isolation features provide.
7 . The method according to claim 1 and comprising configuring the browser to monitor user browsing to determine whether a feature of the user browsing warrants a change in configuration of the isolation.
8 . The method according to claim 7 and comprising changing the configuration of the isolation if change is warranted.
9 . The method according to claim 7 and comprising configuring the browser to make the change in the isolation.
10 . The method according to claim 1 wherein determining a temporal configuration comprises determining whether monitoring is a duty cycle monitoring mode or a continuous monitoring mode.
