Abstract

Disclosed herein are techniques related to product consumption recommendations. In some embodiments, the techniques may involve determining, based on glucose data of a user and activity data indicating movement of the user during an activity, a recommendation associated with a consumption of a product by the user to maintain a glucose level within a target range during the activity, and, in response to the recommendation indicating that the consumption of the product is recommended, providing the recommendation to the user.

Claims (61)

1. A processor-implemented method comprising:

determining, based on glucose data of a user and activity data indicating movement of the user during an activity, a recommendation associated with a consumption of a product by the user to maintain a glucose level within a target range during the activity; and

in response to the recommendation indicating that the consumption of the product is recommended, providing the recommendation to the user.

2. The processor-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation comprises at least one of whether the consumption of the product is recommended, a timing of the consumption of the product, a type of the product, an amount of the product, or a rate of the consumption.

3. The processor-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

responsive to the recommendation being acknowledged by the user, providing details of the recommendation to the user.

4. The processor-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

providing activity metrics derived from the activity data to the user, wherein the activity metrics comprise:

a heart rate of the user;

a duration of the activity;

energy consumed during the activity; or

any combination thereof.

5. The processor-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, via a user interface, product data associated with the product; and

recording the activity data, the glucose data, and the product data with respect to time in an activity log.

6. The processor-implemented method of claim 5 , wherein the product data comprises:

an identifier of the product; and

nutritional information including calorific content, weight, carbohydrate content, or any combination thereof.

7. The processor-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

generating, based on historical activity logs that include activity data, glucose data, and product data with respect to time, one or more glucose response parameters that indicate a glycemic response of the user to a consumption of one or more products,

wherein determining the recommendation includes determining the recommendation based on at least the one or more glucose response parameters.

8. The processor-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the one or more glucose response parameters include at least one of a glucose change parameter, a glucose rate of change parameter, or a glucose change time delay parameter.

9. The processor-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein determining the recommendation based on the glucose data of the user and the activity data comprises:

determining a downward trend in the glucose data based on the activity data, the glucose data, or both the activity data and the glucose data; and

determining the recommendation based on at least the downward trend in the glucose data.

10. A system comprising:

one or more processors; and

one or more non-transitory processor-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:

determining, based on glucose data of a user and activity data indicating movement of the user during an activity, a recommendation associated with a consumption of a product by the user to maintain a glucose level within a target range during the activity; and

in response to the recommendation indicating that the consumption of the product is recommended, providing the recommendation to the user.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the recommendation comprises at least one of whether the consumption of the product is recommended, a timing of the consumption of the product, a type of the product, an amount of the product, or a rate of the consumption.

12. The system of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause performance of:

responsive to the recommendation being acknowledged by the user, providing details of the recommendation to the user.

13. The system of claim 10 , wherein:

the glucose data includes continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data; and

the activity data includes data generated by at least one of:

a Global Positioning System receiver;

an accelerometer;

an altimeter; or

a heart rate monitor.

14. The system of claim 10 , further comprising a user interface, wherein the instructions further cause performance of:

receiving, via the user interface, product data associated with the product; and

recording the activity data, the glucose data, and the product data with respect to time in an activity log.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the user interface includes at least one of an optical reader or a wireless communications reader configured to read the product data from a package of the product.

16. The system of claim 14 , wherein the product data comprises:

an identifier of the product; and

nutritional information including calorific content, weight, carbohydrate content, or any combination thereof.

17. The system of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause performance of:

providing activity metrics derived from the activity data to the user, wherein the activity metrics comprise:

a heart rate of the user;

a duration of the activity;

energy consumed during the activity; or

any combination thereof.

18. The system of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause performance of:

generating, based on historical activity logs that include activity data, glucose data, and product data with respect to time, one or more glucose response parameters that indicate a glycemic response of the user to a consumption of one or more products,

wherein determining the recommendation includes determining the recommendation based on at least the one or more glucose response parameters.

19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the one or more glucose response parameters include at least one of a glucose change parameter, a glucose rate of change parameter, or a glucose change time delay parameter.

20. A processor-implemented method comprising:

receiving, via a user interface, glucose data of a user and activity data indicating movement of the user during an activity;

determining, based on the glucose data and the activity data, a recommendation of when the user should consume a product to maintain a glucose level within a target range during the activity; and

in response to the recommendation indicating that the consumption of the product is recommended, providing the recommendation to the user.
