Abstract

Systems and methods for transferring funds to an user account include a payment service provider device receiving a request for fund transfer information for an user account from a payer device that is associated with a payer. The payment service provider device then provides a routing number that is associated with the payment service provider and a virtual account number that is associated with the user account to the payer device. The payment service provider device then receives information from a financial institution about a funds transfer to a payment service provider account that is provided to a payment service provider by the financial institution. The information about the funds transfer includes a funding amount and the virtual account number, and the payment service provider device allocates the funding amount to the user account using the virtual account number.

Claims (44)

1 . (canceled)

2 . A system, comprising:

a non-transitory memory; and

one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory and configured to read instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform operations comprising:

receiving, from a payer device associated with a payer, a request to transfer funds from a payer account to a payee associated with the payment service provider;

providing, to the payer device, first information usable to initiate a funds transfer, the first information comprising a routing number unique to the payment service provider and a virtual account number associated with the payee;

receiving, from a financial institution device, second information associated with the funds transfer;

after receiving the second information, determining that the funds transfer is associated with the payee; and

allocating the funding amount indicated in the second information to a payee account of the payee while the funds remain in the financial account of the payment service provider.

3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise:

generating a virtual account number for the request and associating the virtual account number with the payee.

4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the virtual account number is generated based on payee information associated with the payee.

5 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise:

in response to allocating the funding amount to the payee account, disassociating the virtual account number from the payee.

6 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the second information indicates that funds associated with the funds transfer have been transferred to a financial account of the payment service provider.

7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the second information comprises the routing number of the payment service provider, the virtual account number, and a funding amount.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the funds transfer is determined to be associated with the payee based on the second information and a stored association between the virtual account number and the payee.

9 . A method, comprising:

receiving, from a payer device associated with a payer, a request to transfer funds from a payer account to a payee associated with a payment service provider, the request including payee information associated with the payee;

providing, to the payer device, first information usable to initiate a funds transfer, the first information comprising a routing number unique to the payment service provider and a virtual account number that is linked to the payee information;

receiving, from a financial institution device, second information associated with the funds transfer;

determining that the funds transfer is associated with the payee based on a stored association between the virtual account number and the payee information; and

allocating the funding amount indicated in the second information to the payee while the funds remain in the financial account of the payment service provider.

10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

selecting a virtual account number for the request and linking the virtual account number to the payee information.

11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

subsequent to allocating the funding amount to the payee, unlinking the virtual account number from the payee information.

12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the second information indicates that funds associated with the funds transfer have been transferred to a financial account of the payment service provider.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the second information comprises the routing number of the payment service provider, the virtual account number, and a funding amount.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the funds transfer is determined to be associated with the payee based on the second information and a stored association between the virtual account number and the payee.

15 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that are executed by a computer system to perform operations comprising:

receiving, from a payer device associated with a payer, a request to transfer funds from a payer account to a payee associated with a payment service provider, the request including payee information associated with the payee;

providing, to the payer device, first information usable to initiate a funds transfer, the first information comprising a routing number unique to the payment service provider and a virtual account number that is linked to the payee information;

receiving, from a financial institution device, second information associated with the funds transfer;

determining that the funds transfer is associated with the payee based on a stored association between the virtual account number and the payee information;

allocating the funding amount indicated in the second information to the payee while the funds remain in the financial account of the payment service provider.

16 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:

generating the virtual account number for the request and linking the virtual account number to the payee information.

17 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the virtual account number is generated based on payee information associated with the payee.

18 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise:

subsequent to allocating the funding amount to the payee, unlinking the virtual account number from the payee information.

19 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the second information indicates that funds associated with the funds transfer have been transferred to a financial account of the payment service provider.

20 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the second information comprises the routing number of the payment service provider, the virtual account number, and a funding amount.

21 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 20 , wherein the funds transfer is determined to be associated with the payee based on the second information and a stored association between the virtual account number and the payee.
