INTELLIGENT MEDICATION DELIVERY SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEDICINE DOSE CALCULATION AND REPORTING
Systems, devices, and techniques are disclosed for administering and tracking medicine to patients and providing health management capabilities for patients and caregivers. In some aspects, a system includes an injection pen device in communication with a mobile communication device having a software application to determine a recommended dose based on prior dose data, analyte data, and nutrient data and to generate a report illustrative of a relationship between the medicine data, the health data, and the contextual data.

21 . A system, comprising:
one or more processors; and
one or more processor-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
aggregating glucose data, insulin data, and carbohydrates consumption data associated with a patient;
selecting time periods based on medicine doses administered to the patient temporally proximate to a meal consumed by the patient;
excluding time periods with at least one of a blood glucose correction that is greater than a threshold blood glucose correction or an amount of insulin active within the patient that is greater than a threshold amount of insulin;
calculating an average value of a post-meal glucose level of the patient over a plurality of meals consumed by the patient; and
adjusting or maintaining a meal bolus insulin dose recommendation based on the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient.
22 . The system according to claim 21 , wherein the one or more processor-readable media further store instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
decreasing the meal bolus insulin dose recommendation in response to the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient being below a first glucose threshold.
23 . The system according to claim 22 , wherein the one or more processor-readable media further store instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
increasing the meal bolus insulin dose recommendation in response to the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient being above a second glucose threshold.
24 . The system according to claim 23 , wherein the one or more processor-readable media further store instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
maintaining the meal bolus insulin dose recommendation in response to the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient being between the first glucose threshold and the second glucose threshold.
25 . The system according to claim 21 , wherein the one or more processor-readable media further store instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
displaying the adjusted or maintained meal bolus insulin dose recommendation on at least one of a display of a mobile communication device or a display of an injection pen device.
26 . The system according to claim 21 , wherein the threshold amount of insulin is based on an insulin sensitivity of the patient.
27 . The system according to claim 21 , wherein the threshold amount of insulin is about 0.50 units of insulin.
28 . The system according to claim 21 , wherein the adjusted or maintained meal bolus insulin dose recommendation is included in the insulin data.
29 . A system, comprising:
an injection pen device configured to administer medicine to a patient; and
a software application installable on a mobile communication device in communication with the injection pen device, the mobile communication device having one or more processors and one or more processor-readable media storing the software application which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes performance of:
selecting time periods based on medicine doses administered to a patient;
excluding time periods with at least one of a blood glucose correction that is greater than a threshold blood glucose correction or an amount of insulin active within the patient that is greater than a threshold amount of insulin;
calculating an average value of a post-meal glucose level of the patient over a plurality of meals consumed by the patient; and
adjusting or maintaining a meal bolus insulin dose recommendation based on the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient.
30 . The system according to claim 29 , wherein the one or more processor-readable media further store instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
aggregating glucose data, insulin data, and carbohydrates consumption data associated with the patient, wherein the insulin data includes the adjusted or maintained meal bolus dose recommendation.
31 . The system according to claim 30 , wherein the adjusted or maintained meal bolus insulin dose recommendation is included in the insulin data.
32 . The system according to claim 29 , wherein the one or more processor-readable media further store instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
decreasing the meal bolus insulin dose recommendation in response to the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient being below a first glucose threshold.
33 . The system according to claim 32 , wherein the one or more processor-readable media further store instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
increasing the meal bolus insulin dose recommendation in response to the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient being above a second glucose threshold.
34 . The system according to claim 33 , wherein the one or more processor-readable media further store instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
maintaining the meal bolus insulin dose recommendation in response to the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient being between the first glucose threshold and the second glucose threshold.
35 . The system according to claim 29 , wherein the one or more processor-readable media further store instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
displaying the adjusted or maintained meal bolus insulin dose recommendation on at least one of a display of the mobile communication device or a display of the injection pen device.
36 . The system according to claim 29 , wherein the threshold amount of insulin is based on an insulin sensitivity of the patient.
37 . The system according to claim 29 , wherein the threshold amount of insulin is about 0.50 units of insulin.
38 . One or more non-transitory processor readable media storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause performance of:
selecting time periods based on medicine doses administered to a patient;
excluding time periods with at least one of a blood glucose correction that is greater than a threshold blood glucose correction or an amount of insulin active within the patient that is greater than a threshold amount of insulin;
calculating an average value of a post-meal glucose level of the patient;
adjusting or maintaining a meal bolus insulin dose recommendation based on the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient; and
displaying the adjusted or maintained meal bolus insulin dose recommendation on at least one of a display of a mobile communication device or a display of an injection pen device.
39 . The one or more non-transitory processor-readable media according to claim 38 , wherein the one or more non-transitory processor-readable media store further instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
decreasing the meal bolus insulin dose recommendation in response to the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient being below a first glucose threshold; and
increasing the meal bolus insulin dose recommendation in response to the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient being above a second glucose threshold.
40 . The one or more non-transitory processor-readable media according to claim 39 , wherein the one or more non-transitory processor-readable media store further instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
maintaining the meal bolus insulin dose recommendation in response to the average value of the post-meal glucose level of the patient being between the first glucose threshold and the second glucose threshold.
