Abstract

A system for managing vehicle data collection. The system includes a vehicle and a controller. The vehicle has a network that includes a plurality of end points. The controller includes: an automation definition circuit structured to interpret an automation description; an automation management circuit structured to provide an automated action plan in response to the automation description, and to store the automated action plan as a data file on a data storage communicatively coupled to the controller; and an automation execution circuit structured to provide an automation command in response to the automated action plan. An end point of the plurality of end points is responsive to the automation command to implement an automated vehicle response.

Claims (40)

1 . A system, comprising:

a vehicle having a network comprising a plurality of end points; and

a controller, comprising:

an automation definition circuit structured to interpret an automation description;

an automation management circuit structured to provide an automated action plan in response to the automation description, and to store the automated action plan as a data file on a data storage communicatively coupled to the controller; and

an automation execution circuit structured to provide an automation command in response to the automated action plan;

wherein an end point of the plurality of end points is responsive to the automation command to implement an automated vehicle response.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the automation command comprises at least one data value determined from the data file.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the automation execution circuit is further structured to provide the automation command as a data parameter provided to the end point as a network communication.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the automated action plan implements a conditional operation of the automation command.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the automated action plan implements a branched operation of a plurality of automation commands, the plurality of automation commands including the automation command.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the automated action plan implements a state machine operation including the automation command.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the automated action plan implements a cyclical operation including the automation command.

8 . A method, comprising:

interpreting an automation description;

providing an automated action plan in response to the automation description;

storing the automated action plan as a data file on a data storage; and

providing an automation command in response to the automated action plan;

wherein the automation command is structured to implement an automated vehicle response via an end point, of a plurality of end points of a network of a vehicle.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the automation command comprises at least one data value determined from the data file.

10 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

providing the automation command as a data parameter provided to the end point as a network communication.

11 . The method of claim 8 further comprising:

implementing, via the automated action plan, a conditional operation of the automation command.

12 . The method of claim 8 further comprising:

implementing, via the automated action plan, a branched operation of a plurality of automation commands, the plurality of automation commands including the automation command.

13 . The method of claim 8 further comprising:

implementing, via the automated action plan, a state machine operation including the automation command.

14 . The method of claim 8 further comprising:

implementing, via the automated action plan, a cyclical operation including the automation command.

15 . An apparatus, comprising:

an automation definition circuit structured to interpret an automation description;

an automation management circuit structured to provide an automated action plan in response to the automation description, and to store the automated action plan as a data file on a data storage; and

an automation execution circuit structured to provide an automation command in response to the automated action plan;

wherein the automation command is structured to implement an automated vehicle response via an end point of a plurality of end points of a network of a vehicle.

16 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the automation command comprises at least one data value determined from the data file.

17 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the automation execution circuit is further structured to provide the automation command as a data parameter provided to the end point as a network communication.

18 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the automated action plan implements a conditional operation of the automation command.

19 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the automated action plan implements a branched operation of a plurality of automation commands, the plurality of automation commands including the automation command.

20 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the automated action plan implements a state machine operation including the automation command.
