Abstract

A method for partitioning a picture is disclosed. The method includes: decoding, from a bitstream, a split flag indicating whether the picture is partitioned into one or more sub-units; decoding, from the bitstream, partition information when the split flag indicates partitioning; and partitioning the picture into the sub-units based on the partition information.

Claims (35)

1 . A video decoding method for partitioning a picture, the method comprising:

decoding, from a bitstream, a split flag indicating whether the picture is partitioned into one or more sub-units;

decoding, from the bitstream, a slice flag indicating one of a plurality of slice types when the split flag indicates partitioning, wherein the plurality of slice types includes a rectangular slice type and a raster-scan slice type; and

decoding, from the bitstream, partition information related to partitioning of the picture into a plurality of slices when the split flag indicates partitioning and when the slice flag indicates the rectangular slice type,

wherein the partition information includes information on a number of slices and size information of the slices,

wherein the size information of the slices includes information on a number of columns of tiles included in a slice and information on a number of rows of tiles included in the slice.

2 . The method of claim 1 ,

wherein the partition information includes information on a number of tiles and size information of tiles when the split flag indicates partitioning.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

decoding, from the bitstream, mapping information for mapping one or more sub-pictures to one or more slices belonging to each of the sub-pictures; and

mapping the sub-pictures to the slices based on the mapping information.

4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

decoding, from the bitstream, a mapping flag indicating whether mapping is applied to the picture,

wherein, when the mapping flag indicates that mapping is applied, the mapping information includes first mapping information decoded from SPS or PPS of the bitstream.

5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein, when the split flag indicates partitioning, the mapping information includes second mapping information decoded from a slice header of the bitstream.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

decoding address information of a target slice from a slice header of the bitstream; and

setting, based on the address information, an index of the target slice within a sub-picture in which the target slice is included,

wherein the address information indicates an index of the slice within the picture when the slice flag decoded from the bitstream indicates the rectangular slice type, and

the address information indicates an index of a tile included in the picture when the slice flag indicates the raster-scan slice type.

7 . A video encoding method, the method comprising:

encoding a split flag indicating whether a picture is partitioned into one or more sub-units;

encoding a slice flag indicating one of a plurality of slice types when the split flag indicates partitioning, wherein the plurality of slice types includes a rectangular slice type and a raster-scan slice type; and

encoding partition information related to partitioning of the picture into a plurality of slices when the split flag indicates partitioning and when the slice flag indicates the rectangular slice type,

wherein the partition information includes information on a number of slices and size information of the slices,

wherein the size information of the slices includes information on a number of columns of tiles included in a slice and information on a number of rows of tiles included in the slice.

8 . A method for transmitting a bitstream containing encoded video data, the method comprising:

generating the bitstream by encoding video data; and

transmitting the bitstream to a video decoding apparatus,

wherein generating the bitstream comprises:

encoding a split flag indicating whether a picture is partitioned into one or more sub-units;

encoding a slice flag indicating one of a plurality of slice types when the split flag indicates partitioning, wherein the plurality of slice types includes a rectangular slice type and a raster-scan slice type; and

encoding partition information related to partitioning of the picture into a plurality of slices when the split flag indicates partitioning and when the slice flag indicates the rectangular slice type,

wherein the partition information includes information on a number of slices and size information of the slices,

wherein the size information of the slices includes information on a number of columns of tiles included in a slice and information on a number of rows of tiles included in the slice.
