Abstract

A server receives sensor data via a cellular wireless network from each of a plurality of automobiles in a geographical area. In each automobile of the plurality of automobiles the sensor data is received from sensors located in the respective automobile. The sensor data of the respective automobile may include a time stamp of the sensor data and at least one parameter of an external environment of the respective automobile. The server may further determine an external environmental parameter of the geographical area based on the sensor data received from the plurality of automobiles in the geographical area via the cellular wireless network. The external environmental parameter relates to the external environment of the plurality of automobiles in the geographical area. The server may transmit the external environmental parameter to multiple automobiles of the plurality of automobiles.

Claims (38)

1 . A method comprising:

receiving, by a server from each of a plurality of automobiles in a geographical area, sensor data via a cellular wireless network, wherein for each automobile of the plurality of automobiles:

the sensor data is received, via a radio bearer, from sensors located in the respective automobile; and

the sensor data of the respective automobile comprises:

a time stamp of the sensor data; and

at least one parameter of an external environment of the respective automobile;

determining, by the server, an external environmental parameter of the geographical area based on the sensor data received from the plurality of automobiles in the geographical area via the cellular wireless network, wherein the external environmental parameter relates to the external environment of the plurality of automobiles in the geographical area; and

transmitting, by the server, the external environmental parameter to multiple automobiles of the plurality of automobiles.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the sensor data comprises a geographical coordinate for the sensor data.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the sensor data comprises at least one of an environment temperature, an environmental chemical parameter, an environmental nuclear parameter, an environment humidity, an environment electromagnetic density, or an environment particle density.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the sensor data is associated with sensors communicating using a short range wireless technology.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving from each of the plurality of automobiles is in response to a pre-defined condition being met for the respective automobile based on at least one of: the sensor data; a value of an internal timer; or a user input.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the external environmental parameter comprises an environmental hazard or an environmental alert.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the radio bearer is a non-guaranteed bit rate (non-GBR) bearer.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising pre-configuring in the respective automobile:

a network address of the server; and

the network address of a wireless device in the respective automobile.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, from each automobile of the plurality of automobiles, a first message being configured to trigger establishment of a connection to the respective automobile.

10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, to each automobile of the plurality of automobiles, a second message being configured to cause transmission of the sensor data of the respective automobile to the server.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one parameter indicates at least one of an action of an operator of the respective automobile or a type of road driven by the respective automobile.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the external environmental parameter comprises a risk factor.

13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the transmitting the external environmental parameter via the cellular wireless network further comprises transmitting the external environmental parameter via the cellular wireless network to the plurality of automobiles.

14 . A server comprising:

one or more processors; and

a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the server to:

receive, from each of a plurality of automobiles in a geographical area, sensor data via a cellular wireless network, wherein for each automobile of the plurality of automobiles:

the sensor data is received, via a radio bearer, from sensors located in the respective automobile; and

the sensor data of the respective automobile comprises:

a time stamp of the sensor data; and

at least one parameter of an external environment of the respective automobile;

determine an external environmental parameter of the geographical area based on the sensor data received from the plurality of automobiles in the geographical area via the cellular wireless network, wherein the external environmental parameter relates to the external environment of the plurality of automobiles in the geographical area; and

transmit the external environmental parameter to multiple automobiles of the plurality of automobiles.

15 . The server of claim 14 , wherein the sensor data comprises a geographical coordinate for the sensor data.

16 . The server of claim 14 , wherein the sensor data comprises at least one of an environment temperature, an environmental chemical parameter, an environmental nuclear parameter, an environment humidity, an environment electromagnetic density, or an environment particle density.

17 . The server of claim 14 , wherein the sensor data is received from each of the plurality of automobiles in response to a pre-defined condition being met for the respective automobile based on at least one of: the sensor data; a value of an internal timer; or a user input.

18 . The server of claim 14 , wherein the at least one parameter indicates at least one of an action of an operator of the respective automobile or a type of road driven by the respective automobile.

19 . The server of claim 18 , wherein the external environmental parameter comprises a risk factor.

20 . The server of claim 18 , wherein the external environmental parameter is transmitted via the cellular wireless network to the plurality of automobiles.
