Abstract

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving a request to forecast allocations for a new descriptor, the new descriptor differing from preexisting descriptors, each of the preexisting descriptors being associated with a subset of locations of a network of locations, each location corresponding to an electronic segment in electronic canvases, and the new descriptor being associated with a new subset of locations of the network of locations, identifying one or more affected descriptors having one or more overlapping subsets of locations of the network of locations and one or more non-overlapping subsets of locations of the network of locations, determining a forecast of allocated locations in each of the one or more affected descriptors; identifying, according to the forecast, at least a portion of allocated locations in the one or more overlapping subsets of locations that are displaceable resulting in a number of displaceable allocations, and determining, according to the number of displaceable allocations, a forecast of available unallocated locations with displacement. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Claims (50)

1 . A system comprising:

a processor; and

memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform acts comprising:

obtaining forecast inventory data that is indicative of forecast impressions for a first delivery segment, wherein the first delivery segment is associated with at least one of a plurality of digital canvases operable to display media content;

obtaining allocation data indicative of a target number of impressions;

determining, based upon the target number of impressions, a forecast of allocated impressions in the first delivery segment;

determining a portion of the forecast of allocated impressions in the first delivery segment that are displaceable into a portion of a second delivery segment;

computing a number of unallocated impressions in the first delivery segment subsequent to displacement of the displaceable portion of the forecast of allocated impressions; and

causing at least one of the unallocated impressions in the first delivery segment to be displayed by one or more of the plurality of digital canvases by way of an electronic content delivery system.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of digital canvases is at least one of a streaming media service, a web page, a video game, or broadcast media.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the unallocated impressions in the first delivery segment displayed by at least one of the plurality of digital canvases is displayed within a plurality of video frames.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the forecast of allocated impressions in the first delivery segment is further determined at least by forecast capacity information, wherein the forecast capacity information indicates a volume of digital canvases that the impressions can be presented to.

5 . The system of claim 1 , determining a number of allocated impressions in the first delivery segment; and

causing at least one of the allocated impressions in the first delivery segment to be displayed by one or more of the plurality of digital canvases by way of the electronic content delivery system.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the forecast of allocated impressions is based upon attribute mapping data comprising demographic information pertaining to an audience for impressions within the first delivery segment.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first delivery segment is defined by a first set of attributes and the second delivery segment is defined by a second set of attributes, wherein the first set of attributes and the second set of attributes partially overlap.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first set of attributes comprises at least one of:

a time-related attribute;

a geographical attribute;

an origination attribute indicative of a web page or application to which impressions in the first delivery segment pertain; or

a contextual attribute indicative of placement of the impressions in the first delivery segment within the web page or the application.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one of the plurality of digital canvases associated with the first delivery segment is a streaming media service and at least one digital canvas associated with the second delivery segment is at least one of a web page, a video game, or broadcast media.

10 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving historical inventory data indicative of previously-served impressions for the first delivery segment by the electronic content delivery system; and

estimating the forecast inventory data based upon the historical inventory data.

11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein responsive to receipt of an electronic content request from a client computing device, the electronic content request indicative of an impression in the first delivery segment, executing an auction to identify electronic content to be served with respect to the impression, wherein the auction is executed based upon the number of unallocated impressions in the first delivery segment; and

causing first electronic content to be displayed within video content being displayed at the client computing device based upon the auction.

12 . A method, comprising:

obtaining forecast inventory data that is indicative of forecast impressions for a first delivery segment, wherein the first delivery segment is associated with at least one of a plurality of digital canvases operable to display media content;

obtaining allocation data indicative of a target number of impressions;

determining, based upon the target number of impressions, a forecast of allocated impressions in the first delivery segment;

determining a portion of the forecast of allocated impressions in the first delivery segment that are displaceable into a portion of a second delivery segment;

computing a number of unallocated impressions in the first delivery segment subsequent to displacement of the displaceable portion of the forecast of allocated impressions; and

causing at least one of the unallocated impressions in the first delivery segment to be displayed by one or more of the plurality of digital canvases by way of an electronic content delivery system.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein at least one of the plurality of digital canvases is at least one of a streaming media service, a web page, a video game, or broadcast media.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein at least one of the plurality of digital canvases is a streaming media service, and further wherein at least one of the unallocated impressions in the first delivery displayed by the streaming media service segment are a plurality of video frames.

15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein at least one of the unallocated impressions in the first delivery segment displayed by at least one of the plurality of digital canvases is displayed within a plurality of video frames.

16 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the forecast of allocated impressions in the first delivery segment is further determined at least by forecast capacity information, wherein the forecast capacity information indicates the volume of digital canvases that the impressions can be presented to.

17 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:

determining a number of allocated impressions in the first delivery segment; and

causing at least one of the allocated impressions in the first delivery segment to be displayed by one or more of the plurality of digital canvases by way of the electronic content delivery system.

18 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the first delivery segment is defined by a first set of attributes and the second delivery segment is defined by a second set of attributes, wherein the first set of attributes and the second set of attributes partially overlap.

19 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the at least one of the plurality of digital canvases associated with the first delivery segment is a streaming media service and at least one digital canvas associated with the second delivery segment is at least one of a web page, a video game, or broadcast media.

20 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor of a computing system, cause the computing system to perform acts comprising:

obtaining forecast inventory data that is indicative of forecast impressions for a first delivery segment, wherein the first delivery segment associated with at least one of a plurality of digital canvases operable to display media content;

obtaining allocation data indicative of a target number of impressions;

determining, based upon the target number of impressions, a forecast of allocated impressions in the first delivery segment;

determining a portion of the forecast of allocated impressions in the first delivery segment that are displaceable into a portion of a second delivery segment;

computing a number of unallocated impressions in the first delivery segment subsequent to displacement of the displaceable portion of the forecast of allocated impressions; and

causing at least one of the unallocated impressions in the first delivery segment to be displayed by one or more of the plurality of digital canvases by way of an electronic content delivery system, wherein at least one of the plurality of digital canvases is a streaming media service, and further wherein at least one of the unallocated impressions in the first delivery displayed by the streaming media service segment are a plurality of video frames.
