Abstract

Described embodiments are directed toward centrally-opening leaflet prosthetic valves having a frame and a leaflet construct. Leaflet frame attachments for prosthetic valves include the leaflet construct being at least partially coupled to a frame outer side by a looped structure.

Claims (29)

1 . (canceled)

2 . A prosthetic valve comprising:

a frame having a central longitudinal axis;

a leaflet construct including a first leaflet defining a first commissure tab, a second commissure tab, and a body portion therebetween, each tab having a terminal end and a leaflet end opposite the terminal end;

a first retaining element; and

a second retaining element, the frame having an inner side and an outer side and defining a commissure post having a first slot through which the first tab is received, the first tab passing through the first slot from the inner side to the outer side and passing through the first slot from the outer side to the inner side to define a first loop adjacent the outer side of the frame through which the first retaining element is received, and the first tab passing from the inner side to the outer side to define a second loop adjacent the first loop through which the second retaining element is received.

3 . The prosthetic valve of claim 2 , wherein a cross-sectional area of the first retaining element and the first loop is greater than a width of the first slot.

4 . The prosthetic valve of claim 2 , wherein the leaflet construct includes a second leaflet defining a third commissure tab, a fourth commissure tab, and a body portion therebetween, each tab having a terminal end and a leaflet end opposite the terminal end, and wherein the commissure post defines a second slot adjacent the first slot, the second slot receiving the third tab.

5 . The prosthetic valve of claim 4 , wherein the third tab passes through the second slot from the inner side of the frame to the outer side and passes through the second slot from the outer side to the inner side to define a third loop adjacent the outer side of the frame through which a third retaining element is received, the third tab passing from the inner side to the outer side to define a fourth loop adjacent the third loop through which a fourth retaining element is received.

6 . The prosthetic valve of claim 2 , wherein the first and second retaining elements are connected and continuous to define a first hanging loop.

7 . The prosthetic valve of claim 6 , wherein the frame further comprises a first hanging feature over which the first hanging loop is received to axially support the leaflet construct.

8 . The prosthetic valve of claim 5 , wherein the third and fourth retaining elements are connected and continuous to define a second hanging loop.

9 . The prosthetic valve of claim 8 , wherein the frame further comprises a second hanging feature over which the second hanging loop is received to axially support the leaflet construct.

10 . The prosthetic valve of claim 2 , wherein the terminal end of the first tab is disposed adjacent a first lateral side of the commissure post, the first lateral side extending between the outer side and the inner side of the frame.

11 . The prosthetic valve of claim 5 , wherein the terminal end of the third tab is disposed adjacent a second lateral side of the commissure post, the second lateral side extending between the outer side and the inner side of the frame.

12 . The prosthetic valve of claim 2 , wherein the first leaflet defines a plurality of attachment tabs around a perimeter of the first leaflet that extend over the frame and are coupled to the outer side of the frame.

13 . The prosthetic valve of claim 12 , wherein each of the attachment tabs is separated from an adjacent attachment tab by an opening for receiving a portion of the frame and optionally wherein the attachment tabs of the first and second leaflets each include a plurality of apertures.

14 . The prosthetic valve of claim 2 , wherein the leaflet construct defines a continuous annular ring.

15 . A prosthetic valve comprising:

a frame having a central longitudinal axis;

a leaflet construct including a first leaflet defining a first commissure tab, a second commissure tab, and a body portion therebetween, each tab having a terminal end and a leaflet end opposite the terminal end;

a first retaining element; and

a second retaining element, the frame having an inner side and an outer side and defining a commissure post having a slot through which the first tab is received, the first tab extending through the slot from the inner side to the outer side in a first pass and through the slot from the outer side to the inner side in a second pass to form a first outer loop through which the first retaining element extends, the first tab extending from the inner side to the outer side adjacent a first lateral side of the commissure post in a third pass and adjacent the first lateral side in a fourth pass to define a second outer loop adjacent the first outer loop through which the second retaining element is received.

16 . The prosthetic valve of claim 15 , wherein the first pass and the second pass are coupled and positioned adjacent to one another.

17 . The prosthetic valve of claim 15 , wherein the fourth pass is disposed between the third pass and the first lateral side.

18 . The prosthetic valve of claim 15 , wherein the terminal end of the first commissure tab is disposed between the third pass and the first lateral side.

19 . The prosthetic valve of claim 15 , wherein the first outer loop is restrained from pulling through the slot.

20 . The prosthetic valve of claim 15 , wherein the first and second retaining elements are connected and continuous to define a hanging loop.

21 . The prosthetic valve of claim 20 , wherein the commissure post further comprises a hanging feature over which the hanging loop is received to axially support the leaflet construct.
