Abstract

Methods and systems for curating notifications from unfollowed accounts are described herein. The system tracks that a first account previously followed a second account and subsequently unfollowed the second account. The system identifies an interest of the first account and monitors the activities of the second account for activity that matches the interest. If there is a match between the interest and an activity of the second account, the system notifies the first account of the activity. These methods and systems provide the user with relevant information from unfollowed accounts.

Claims (49)

1 . A method comprising:

muting one or more notifications comprising activity associated with an unfollowed account at an interface associated with a social media account, wherein the unfollowed account was previously followed and is currently unfollowed by the social media account;

detecting a first activity associated with the unfollowed account;

based at least in part on determining that the first activity meets or exceeds a first relevance threshold associated with the social media account:

temporarily overriding muting the one or more notifications at the interface; and

causing to be displayed, at the interface, a first interactive notification indicating that the first activity is relevant to the social media account;

detecting a second activity associated with a never-followed account, wherein the social media account has never followed the never-followed account; and

based at least in part on determining that the second activity meets or exceeds a second relevance threshold associated with social media account, the second relevance threshold being higher than the first relevance threshold, causing to be displayed, at the interface, a second interactive notification indicating that the second activity is relevant to the social media account.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first interactive notification indicates that the unfollowed account is presently muted and that the first activity is relevant to the social media account based on the first activity meeting or exceeding the first relevance threshold associated with the social media account.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second interactive notification indicates that the second activity is relevant to the social media account based on the second activity meeting or exceeding the second relevance threshold associated with the social media account.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more notifications are muted based on an active setting of the interface.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

identifying one or more keywords associated with the first activity; and

comparing the one or more keywords and data associated with the social media account.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the data associated with the social media account indicates an event, the method further comprising:

determining that the one or more keywords are related to a location of the event; and

causing to be displayed, at the interface, supplemental content corresponding to the location.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the first interactive notification comprises an action recommendation related to the event.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining that the first activity meets or exceeds the first relevance threshold comprises:

identifying one or more keywords associated with the first activity; and

determining, based on the one or more keywords, that the first activity corresponds to an important event.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a first identifier corresponding to the unfollowed account is stored in a first data structure, and wherein a second identifier corresponding to the never-followed account is stored in a second data structure.

10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising monitoring, based on the first data structure, activity associated with a plurality of unfollowed accounts.

11 . A system comprising:

display circuitry configured to display an interface; and

control circuitry configured to:

mute one or more notifications comprising activity associated with an unfollowed account at the interface associated with a social media account, wherein the unfollowed account was previously followed and is currently unfollowed by the social media account;

detect a first activity associated with the unfollowed account;

based at least in part on determining that the first activity meets or exceeds a first relevance threshold associated with the social media account:

temporarily override muting the one or more notifications at the interface; and

cause to be displayed, at the interface via the display circuitry, a first interactive notification indicating that the first activity is relevant to the social media account;

detect a second activity associated with a never-followed account, wherein the social media account has never followed the never-followed account; and

based at least in part on determining that the second activity meets or exceeds a second relevance threshold associated with social media account, the second relevance threshold being higher than the first relevance threshold, cause to be displayed, at the interface via the display circuitry, a second interactive notification indicating that the second activity is relevant to the social media account.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the first interactive notification indicates that the unfollowed account is presently muted and that the first activity is relevant to the social media account based on the first activity meeting or exceeding the first relevance threshold associated with the social media account.

13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the second interactive notification indicates that the second activity is relevant to the social media account based on the second activity meeting or exceeding the second relevance threshold associated with the social media account.

14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to mute the one or more notifications based on an active setting of the interface.

15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

identify one or more keywords associated with the first activity; and

compare the one or more keywords and data associated with the social media account.

16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the data associated with the social media account indicates an event, and wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

determine that the one or more keywords are related to a location of the event; and

cause to be displayed, at the interface via the display circuitry, supplemental content corresponding to the location.

17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the first interactive notification comprises an action recommendation related to the event.

18 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry, when determining that the first activity meets or exceeds the first relevance threshold, is configured to:

identify one or more keywords associated with the first activity; and

determine, based on the one or more keywords, that the first activity corresponds to an important event.

19 . The system of claim 11 , wherein a first identifier corresponding to the unfollowed account is stored in a first data structure, and wherein a second identifier corresponding to the never-followed account is stored in a second data structure.

20 . The system of claim 19 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

monitor, based on the first data structure, activity associated with a plurality of unfollowed accounts.
