Abstract

The present disclosure provides an electrochemical storage device comprising a plurality of electrochemical cells and a plurality of harnesses which are configured to hold a plurality of wires spaced apart from another wire and/or an electrochemical cell. The present disclosure further provides an electrochemical storage device comprising a plurality of electrochemical cells and a set of at least two metal plates coupled to an enjoining stack of non-planar metal sheets.

Claims (27)

1 .- 36 . (canceled)

37 . An electrochemical energy storage device, comprising:

a plurality of electrochemical cells, wherein each electrochemical cell of said plurality of electrochemical cells comprises at least two of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte in a liquid state; and

a plurality of harnesses positioned external to said plurality of electrochemical cells, wherein said plurality of harnesses is configured to hold a plurality of wires in electrical isolation from one another.

38 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 37 , wherein at least a wire of said plurality of wires is not electrically insulated.

39 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 37 , wherein each harness of said plurality of harnesses is positioned in between at least two electrochemical cells of said plurality of electrochemical cells.

40 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 39 , wherein a distance between said at least two electrochemical cells is at least about 0.1 inches.

41 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 37 , wherein said plurality of harnesses comprises an oxide based ceramic insulating material.

42 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 37 , wherein each harness of said plurality of harnesses comprises a plurality of grooves, and wherein a center of a first groove of said plurality of grooves is at least about 0.2 inches from a center of an adjacent second groove of said plurality of grooves.

43 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 42 , wherein each groove of said plurality of grooves is configured to hold a wire, and wherein a first wire in said first groove is in electrical isolation from a second wire in said second groove.

44 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 37 , wherein said plurality of wires is positioned at least about 0.5 inches from a surface of an electrochemical cell of said plurality of electrochemical cells.

45 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 37 , wherein said plurality of wires comprises a material that is conductive or air-stable at an operating temperature of at least about 450 degrees Celsius.

46 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 45 , wherein said material is nickel 201, stainless steel, aluminum-bronze, aluminum-brass, or aluminum, or a combination thereof.

47 . An electrochemical energy storage device, comprising:

a plurality of electrochemical cells;

a first metal plate coupled to a conductor of a first electrochemical cell of said plurality of electrochemical cells;

a second metal plate coupled to a lid of a second electrochemical cell of said plurality of electrochemical cells; and

a plurality of metal sheets that couples said first metal plate to said second metal plate, wherein each metal sheet of said plurality of metal sheets comprises a non-planar surface.

48 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 47 , wherein each electrochemical cell of said plurality of electrochemical cells comprises at least two of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte in a liquid state.

49 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 47 , wherein said first metal plate comprises a counter-bore hole configured to couple said first metal plate to said conductor.

50 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 47 , wherein each metal sheet of said plurality of metal sheets, said first metal plate, or said second metal plate comprises nickel 201, aluminum-brass alloy, aluminum-bronze alloy, aluminum, or stainless steel clad copper, or a combination thereof.

51 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 47 , wherein said plurality of metal sheets is vertically stacked.

52 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 47 , wherein each metal sheet of said plurality of metal sheets comprises a thickness from about 0.1 millimeters (mm) to about 1 mm.

53 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 47 , wherein said non-planar surface is a wavy surface.

54 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 53 , wherein said wavy surface is a sinusoidal wave, and wherein said sinusoidal wave comprises a height from about 0.25 inches (in) to about 1.5 in.

55 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 47 , wherein said non-planar surface is a stepped surface.

56 . The electrochemical energy storage device of claim 47 , wherein said plurality of metal sheets are coupled to said first metal plate or said second metal plate through a bolt connection, a welded joint, or a braze joint, or a combination thereof.
