Abstract

Exemplary embodiments of a thermoplastic polyolefin membrane are provided. The colored TPO membrane can have a cap layer having a top color layer and a white sub-layer having a solar reflectance underneath the top color layer, and a core layer underneath the cap layer. The colored TPO roofing membrane can have a reinforcing polyester scrim between the cap layer and the core layer. The white sub-layer can be made up of one or more layers.

21 . A multilayer roofing composition comprising:

a first layer,

wherein the first layer comprises a topmost layer;

wherein the first layer is a color layer;

a second layer,

wherein the second layer comprises a white layer;

wherein the second layer comprise TPO;

a third layer,

wherein the third layer contacts the second layer;

wherein the third layer is a reinforcing polyester scrim layer;

wherein the second layer is positioned between the first layer and third layer;

a fourth layer,

wherein the fourth layer contacts the third layer;

wherein the fourth layer comprises TPO; and

wherein the fourth layer is a core layer.

22 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 21 , wherein the first layer further comprises a thermal stabilizer.

23 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 21 , wherein the first layer further comprises a UV stabilizer.

24 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 21 , wherein the second layer comprises one or more of titanium dioxide pigment, a UV stabilizer package, and fire retardant.

25 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 21 , wherein the fourth layer comprises a dark color.

26 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 21 , wherein the fourth layer comprises carbon black, titanium dioxide, a UV stabilizer package, and fire retardant.

27 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 21 , wherein the fourth layer comprises a light color.

28 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 21 , wherein the second layer further comprises a thermal stabilizer.

29 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 21 , wherein the first layer further comprises a thermal stabilizer and a UV stabilizer.

30 . A roofing system comprising

a multilayer roofing composition comprising:

a first layer,

wherein the first layer comprises a topmost layer;

wherein the first layer is a color layer;

a second layer,

wherein the second layer comprises a white layer;

wherein the second layer comprise TPO;

a third layer,

wherein the third layer contacts the second layer;

wherein the third layer is a reinforcing polyester scrim layer;

wherein the second layer is positioned between the first layer and third layer;

a fourth layer,

wherein the fourth layer contacts the third layer;

wherein the fourth layer comprises TPO;

wherein the fourth layer is a core layer; and

wherein the multilayer roofing composition is installed on a roof.

31 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 30 , wherein the first layer further comprises a thermal stabilizer.

32 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 30 , wherein the first layer further comprises a UV stabilizer.

33 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 30 , wherein the second layer comprises one or more of titanium dioxide pigment, a UV stabilizer package, and fire retardant.

34 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 30 , wherein the fourth layer comprises a dark color.

35 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 30 , wherein the fourth layer comprises carbon black, titanium dioxide, a UV stabilizer package, and fire retardant.

36 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 30 , wherein the fourth layer comprises a light color.

37 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 30 , wherein the second layer further comprises a thermal stabilizer.

38 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 30 , wherein the roof is a residential roof.

39 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 30 , wherein the roof is a commercial roof.

40 . The multilayer roofing composition of claim 30 , wherein the first layer further comprises a thermal stabilizer and a UV stabilizer.
