Abstract

According to some embodiments of the disclosure, a method is disclosed. The method includes receiving, by a processing device of an in-ear device, an audio signal from one or more microphones of the in-ear device. The method further includes extracting, by the processing device, one or more features of the audio signal and generating, by the processing device, an in-ear data object based on the one or more features. The method also includes publishing, by the processing device, the in-ear data object to an external system via a network.

Claims (30)

1 . An earphone of a user comprising:

a plurality of sensors; and

a circuit that executes instructions stored on a memory to perform operations, the operations comprising:

receiving an audio signal;

predicting a user response to the audio signal, wherein predicting the user response includes comparing sound records stored on a device memory to the audio signal and biometric features of the user detected by the plurality of sensors; and

providing a notification to the user based on the predicted response.

2 . The earphone of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of sensors includes one or more microphones to detect the audio signal, the audio signal including a safety-related sound.

3 . The earphone of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of sensors includes one or more physiological sensors to detect the biometric features of the user, the biometric features including motion data that indicates whether the user reacts or does not react to the audio signal.

4 . The earphone of claim 3 , wherein the motion data includes a head movement of the user.

5 . The earphone of claim 1 , wherein the sound records include sounds classified as safety-related sounds, the classified safety-related sounds including emergency broadcast signals, earthquake sirens, tornado signals, police sirens, ambulance sirens, firetruck sirens, car horns, fire alarms, smoke alarms, and train signals.

6 . The earphone of claim 1 , further comprising:

storing the sound records and the biometric features according to a storage plan, wherein the storage plan includes storing at least part of the biometric features on the device memory.

7 . The earphone of claim 6 , wherein storing the sound records and the biometric features includes generating an in-ear data object, the in-ear data object including portions of the audio signal and the biometric features.

8 . The earphone of claim 7 , wherein the device memory includes the memory of the earphone, a memory of an associated user device, or a memory of an external system.

9 . The earphone of claim 1 , wherein the notification includes an audible message notifying the user of the audio signal.

10 . The earphone of claim 1 , wherein the notification includes an audible message instructing the user to pay attention to their surroundings.

11 . The earphone of claim 1 , wherein predicting the user response to the audio signal includes utilizing a machine learning model to compare the sound records stored on the device memory to the audio signal and the biometric features of the user detected by the plurality of sensors, the machine learning model being stored on the device memory.

12 . A method comprising:

receiving, by a plurality of sensors in an earphone, an audio signal;

predicting a user response to the audio signal, wherein predicting the user response includes comparing sound records stored on a device memory to the audio signal and biometric features of a user detected by the plurality of sensors; and

providing a notification to the user based on the predicted response.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of sensors includes one or more microphones to detect the audio signal, the audio signal including a safety-related sound.

14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of sensors includes one or more physiological sensors to detect the biometric features of the user, the biometric features including motion data that indicates whether the user reacts or does not react to the audio signal.

15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the sound records include sounds classified as safety-related sounds, the classified safety-related sounds including emergency broadcast signals, earthquake sirens, tornado signals, police sirens, ambulance sirens, firetruck sirens, car horns, fire alarms, smoke alarms, and train signals.

16 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:

storing the sound records and the biometric features according to a storage plan, wherein the storage plan includes storing at least part of the biometric features on the device memory.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein storing the sound records and the biometric features includes generating an in-ear data object, the in-ear data object including portions of the audio signal and the biometric features.

18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the device memory includes a memory of the earphone, a memory of an associated user device, or a memory of an external system.

19 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the notification includes an audible message notifying the user of the audio signal or instructing the user to pay attention to their surroundings.

20 . The method of claim 12 , wherein predicting the user response to the audio signal includes utilizing a machine learning model to compare the sound records stored on the device memory to the audio signal and the biometric features of the user detected by the plurality of sensors, the machine learning model being stored on the device memory.
