Abstract

A method and system is provided for facilitating affiliate link generation using a web browser application. A publisher enables the system by identifying a webpage on an affiliate web site. The system performs an initial assessment of the page to extract webpage information, which is compared to information stored in a database. If the extracted information matches stored information, a record of the webpage is displayed and an affiliate link is dynamically generated for immediate use. If the extracted information does not match stored information, a new record of the webpage is created. If the webpage contains product-specific data, a product-specific record is stored. If the webpage does not contain product-specific data, a non-product record is stored. An affiliate link is then dynamically created. The new record of the product and dynamically created affiliate link is added to the database for immediate use.

providing the link to the first user computing device, wherein the link is published by the first user computing device;

receiving an indication of a selection of the published link by a second user computing device;

identifying, using the information stored in the data store, a retailer from the plurality of retailers providing the product and at least one of the plurality of affiliate networks that the identified retailer has a relationship with; and

redirecting a browser of the second user computing device through the computer system and/or a server of the at least one of the plurality of affiliate networks that the retailer has a relationship with to a product webpage of the retailer associated with the product.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

tracking metrics at each of the computer system, the server of the at least one of the plurality of affiliate networks, and the product webpage as the browser of the second user computing device is redirected.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the link is a single link that enables access to any of a plurality of servers associated with the plurality of affiliate networks.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein two or more of the plurality of retailers have a relationship with a same affiliate network of the plurality of affiliate networks.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the identified retailer has a relationship with only a first affiliate network of the plurality of affiliate networks, and redirecting the browser of the second user computing device comprises:

redirecting the browser of the second user computing device through the computer system and/or a server of the first affiliate network to the product webpage of the retailer associated with the product.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the identified retailer has a relationship with at least two of the plurality of affiliate networks, including a first affiliate network associated with a first geographical region and a second affiliate network associated with a second geographical region, and redirecting the browser of the second user computing device comprises:

determining a geographical location of the second user computing device;

selecting one of the first affiliate network or the second affiliate network based on the geographical location of the second user computing device corresponding to the one of the first geographical region or the second geographical region, respectively; and

redirecting the browser of the second user computing device through the computer system and/or a server of the selected one of the first affiliate network or the second affiliate network to the product webpage of the retailer associated with the product.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the link associated with the product is one of a plurality of links associated with a plurality of products that are generated and stored by the computer system, and a number of the plurality of links is more than a sum total of the plurality of affiliate networks.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the request for the link associated with the product is received from the first user computing device in response to a user selection of a browser application tool as a webpage associated with the product is displayed on a browser of the first user computing device.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

extracting, for assessment, at least a portion of webpage information from the webpage associated with the product displayed on the browser of the first user computing device, the portion of the webpage information including product information associated with the product; and

determining whether the portion of webpage information has been previously stored in the data store, wherein:

when determined to be previously stored, the link having been previously generated and stored in association with the portion of webpage information is received from the data store; and

when determined to not be previously stored, the link is generated.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein, when the link is generated, generating the link comprises:

generating the link; and

storing, in the data store, the link in association with the portion of webpage information.

11. A computer system comprising:

at least one memory storing instructions; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to execute the instructions to perform operations including:

storing, in a data store, information associated with a plurality of webpages of a plurality of retailers, wherein a portion of the plurality of webpages include product webpages associated with one or more products, and each of the plurality of retailers has a relationship with one or more of a plurality of affiliate networks;

receiving a request from a first user computing device for a link associated with a product;

one of receiving the link from the data store, if previously generated and stored in the data store, or generating the link;

providing the link to the first user computing device, wherein the link is published by the first user computing device;

receiving an indication of a selection of the published link by a second user computing device;

identifying, using the information stored in the data store, a retailer from the plurality of retailers providing the product and at least one of the plurality of affiliate networks that the identified retailer has a relationship with; and

redirecting a browser of the second user computing device through the computer system and/or a server of the at least one of the plurality of affiliate networks that the retailer has a relationship with to a product webpage of the retailer associated with the product.

12. The computer system of claim 11 , wherein the operations further include:

tracking metrics at each of the computer system, the server of the at least one of the plurality of affiliate networks, and the product webpage as the browser of the second user computing device is redirected.

13. The computer system of claim 11 , wherein the link is a single link that enables access to any of a plurality of servers associated with the plurality of affiliate networks.

14. The computer system of claim 11 , wherein two or more of the plurality of retailers have a relationship with a same affiliate network of the plurality of affiliate networks.

15. The computer system of claim 11 , wherein the identified retailer has a relationship with only a first affiliate network of the plurality of affiliate networks, and redirecting the browser of the second user computing device comprises:

redirecting the browser of the second user computing device through the computer system and/or a server of the first affiliate network to the product webpage of the retailer associated with the product.
