Abstract

A shelf system includes at least one modular shelf assembly including at least one shelf unit, a plurality of support posts, an adjustable foot, covers, and anchors. The at least one shelf unit, plurality of support posts, adjustable foot, covers, and anchors are, in combination, adapted to create the modular shelf assembly. Each shelf unit is adapted to receive the plurality of support posts, including one support post generally located adjacent a rear side of the shelf unit about half-way between a first and a second end of the shelf unit.

Claims (18)

1. A shelf unit for a shelf assembly, comprising:

a shelf body having a first end, a second end, a front side, a rear side, first and second support openings, an integral receiver, a first crossbar, a second crossbar, and a third crossbar, the first support opening disposed adjacent the first end and adjacent the rear side, the second support opening disposed adjacent the second end and adjacent the rear side, the integral receiver disposed adjacent the rear side between and spaced from the first end and the second end of the shelf body, the first crossbar being adjacent the front side and disposed between the first end and the second end, the second crossbar being adjacent the rear side and disposed between the first end and the second end, and the third crossbar being disposed between the first crossbar and the second crossbar and disposed between the first end and the second end, wherein the integral receiver is reinforced by at least one reinforcing rib integrally connected to the integral receiver and an adjacent wall; and

a plurality of support posts, one of the plurality of support posts being an integral receiver post received by the integral receiver of the shelf body.

2. The shelf unit of claim 1 , wherein the shelf body has at least one reinforcing bar connected to the integral receiver and extending toward the front side of the shelf body.

3. The shelf unit of claim 1 , wherein the integral receiver is disposed in the second crossbar.

4. The shelf unit of claim 1 , wherein the shelf body has at least one reinforcing bar, and the at least one reinforcing bar is disposed between the first crossbar and the second crossbar.

5. The shelf unit of claim 4 , wherein the at least one reinforcing bar includes a plurality of reinforcing members.

6. The shelf unit of claim 1 , wherein the shelf body has a plurality of reinforcing strips, and each of the plurality of reinforcing strips is disposed between the first crossbar and the second crossbar.

7. The shelf unit of claim 1 , wherein the shelf body has at least two reinforcing bars, and a first reinforcing bar is disposed between the first crossbar and the third crossbar and a second reinforcing bar is disposed between the second crossbar and the third crossbar.

8. The shelf unit of claim 7 , wherein the integral receiver is disposed in the second crossbar and an end of the second reinforcing bar is connected to the integral receiver.

9. The shelf unit of claim 1 , wherein the shelf body has a plurality of reinforcing strips, and each of the plurality of reinforcing strips is disposed between the first crossbar and the third crossbar or the second crossbar and the third crossbar.

10. The shelf unit of claim 1 , wherein the shelf body includes at least one cover, and the at least one cover is inserted into the integral receiver of the shelf body.

11. The shelf unit of claim 1 , wherein the shelf body includes at least one foot, and the at least one foot is inserted into the integral receiver of the shelf body.

12. The shelf unit of claim 1 including at least one anchor, wherein the at least one anchor cooperates with at least one of the plurality of support posts to facilitate securing the shelf unit to an adjacent structure.

13. The shelf unit of claim 1 , wherein the shelf body includes third and fourth support openings, the third support opening being at a front right corner of the shelf body, the fourth support opening being at a front left corner of the shelf body, wherein the integral receiver, the first support opening, and the second support opening are equally spaced along the rear side of the shelf body.

14. A shelf unit for a shelf assembly, comprising:

a shelf body having a first end, a second end, a front side, a rear side, first and second support openings, and an integral receiver, a first crossbar, and a second crossbar, the first support opening disposed adjacent the first end and adjacent the rear side, the second support opening disposed adjacent the second end and adjacent the rear side, the integral receiver disposed adjacent the rear side between and spaced from the first end and the second end of the shelf body, the first crossbar being adjacent the front side and disposed between the first end and the second end, the second crossbar being adjacent the rear side and disposed between the first end and the second end, wherein the integral receiver is reinforced by at least one reinforcing rib integrally connected to the integral receiver and an adjacent wall, and wherein the integral receiver is disposed in the second crossbar; and

a plurality of support posts, one of the plurality of support posts being an integral receiver post received by the integral receiver of the shelf body.
